Starter/Shim ??
The Starter on my Burb started acting up, it would click when i turn the key almost like bad contact so i swapped for another i had that i thought was good, it did the same thing. If i tap on solonoid i here it retracting like it was stuck then it will start! I don't think both starters are bad (solonoid) I have heard of shimming the starter could this keep the soloniod from hanging up and where do i get these shims?

Chances are the shims won't do any good for the solenoid, if it's not trying to crank. The are there to adjust tooth contact with the flexplate. It could be a bad ground with the block. If you need shims, they are available from any parts store, and sometimes in a variety pack. Also, some junkyards keep a box of them around.

I shimmed my starter 5 years ago with a piece of a crushed beer can. Stomped the can, cut out a little "C" and put it up around a bolt. Worked like a charm.

O'l Buck The Solonoid pushes the small gear out to contact the flex plate, but what seems like is happening is its not contacting properly and getting stuck out! If i tap with a hammer it releases and i can start or it will jam again. I think the ground is good as well as the battery posts and cables clean.

it might be too tight dude. A fast tip on starters.......slide a 1/8" rod between the armature shaft & the OD of the flex plate.....not loose, but not tight,& you are shimmed properly.....69
