Casting code help
I just bought a 250 I6 out of an unknown year GMC pickup. I believe it to be a late 60s model. The code is F1023TTK. Does anyone know for sure what year the engine was made and all relavent info?

Re: Casting code help
have you located the VIN? I know it's in the B post door jamb for up to when it was put in the windshield, not sure it's also on the B post for 60's or not. It's riveted, so it should still be there.

Re: Casting code help
Well, I can't check the VIN. Problem is, I got the engine out of the truck and then the truck had a new engine put in and was sold. No idea where it went to. Not to mention that the engine I got out might have been a replacement for the original itself. There is the F1023TTK code on the block behind the distributor. 348675 lower down on the block, which is what leads me to believe it was a replacement engine, as the truck was a late 60s model, and that particular code was for engines made from 73-76, at least from what I gathered searching around. Further back on the block on the same side is "CON 2 I174". On the back of the block where the transmission would bolt up is "4 57 J 73" just like that. Again, any info would be much appreciated
