Instrument cluster swap help???

I need help on the wiring of an istrument cluster. I have a 74 model Chevy 4 wheel drive. I have aquired a gauge cluster out of an early 80's model 2 ton truck. The new cluster has a tach and small fuel guage.

The printed circuit on the two clusters is wired differently, so i have to rewire for the new cluster. Does anyone have a diagram or instructions?

I purchased a chiltion's online guide, but it is virtually useless. I also purchased a guide from eautorepaironline.net but they did not have my model, so i had to get the guide for an 83 model which apparently does not have the same color wires.

Please help.

Re: Instrument cluster swap help???

I purchased a '73 service manual but it is at home. Do you think that would be close enough? I'll bring it to work tomorrow if it has that part and scan the cluster wiring for you and post it.

Re: Instrument cluster swap help???

I didn't get an email about posts on this thread so I didn't bring it in today. I will check tonight and see if it has that info and respond tomorrow.

which wire is the gas tank sending unit

Can anyone tell me what color the wire on the gas tank sending unit would be. The later model manual i have said it is pink, but the only pink wire going into my cluster is a 12v hot wire.
