A Few Questions
Im looking to buy a pickup. I was looking at 2500's but since there is basically none around here to choose from, but I have been looking into 1500s
Can I fit 32's on a stock 1500? Can a 1500 (5.3) pull an open car trailer with ease? And stop? What kind of reliablility can I expect from the 5.3? Im looking at one with 110K and that really scares me, but theres not many in my area with lower miles, and extended cab. How easy and cheap is it to get parts for the 5.3? What is the Z71 package all about? Ive always wanted a chevy pickup, and now Im looking to find a more reliable vehicle than my lifted jeep, and Im hoping to find a good deal on one. |

Re: A Few Questions
I have had a few 5.3 Tahoes, trucks and burbs. Great engine with good power, not overpwered but it's not bad. Breaking would be better with a trailer and a 2500 or 3500. if your trailer has good brakes then it would be fine. Z-71 is an option package that Chevy offers. Usually includes skid plates, tow package, tranny cooler, stiffer suspension, and a sticker on the bedside. You could call it their "off road" option but it's far from off road. Parts I can't tell you about, I haven't put over 40K on a truck in the last 6 years. Good mileage for a V8, Tahoe get 17-19 all the time for me. 1500 trucks will ride softer than 2500 but of course they can't haul or tow quite as much. 32's should be no problem but I haven't tried...33's could be closer to rubbing. All depends on tire, psi, backspace and tread of course. Good luck and welcome....

Re: A Few Questions
Also, what kind of rear end is in these trucks, and how strong are they
What are the weakest points of the truck? And Im not worried about gas mileage, because it will get better than my jeep anyways...lol Last edited by drewguere; 10-25-2006 at 10:14 PM. |
