Re: Black Trcuk Guys, what do u use 4 wax
I use mothers carnuba wax. And Meguiers spray detailer in between. It does a nice job and last for lots of washings because thats what it takes to keep a black truck clean and shiny. Oh and if you have excess elbow grease that helps too. LOL

Re: Black Trcuk Guys, what do u use 4 wax
I've used Turtle Wax "Black" or Carnuba on my '68. On my yellow '70 it's Carnuba or "Ice".

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
So far the two guys that chimed in mentioned really good products. I have had good results with both. If you have semi deep scratches try that black colored turtle wax to remove some of the surface scratches. It works, we had a customer complain that we scratched his entire vehicle after we painted the hood and washed the entire vehicle, so I explained to him if we washed the whole truck why was the hood not scratched, he said he did not know. I told one of my guys to run to o'reily and we waxed with that. He thought we buffed the entire vehicle. After I told him what we did he felt stupid.

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
I owned 3 black vehicles and had little luck with any products long term.
You know what they say....everyone owns (1) black vehicle.....crazy people own 2...I really lost my mind and owned 3. I guess some of us are slower than the rest. I finally figured it out after #3....NO MORE FOR ME!!!! Oh yea....I am really thick....I actually took a white vehicle and painted it black...oh well...its never too late to learn a lesson I guess!!! |

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
I have used the Zano Bro's products in the past since it gets so much fuss on the internet. Personally I didn't think it was any better than Meguiars products and it's a lot more expensive.
I normally use some sort of Meguiars product since they have a gazillion different formulas. Recently I tried their Quick Wax and had good results. It goes on like a quick detailer and comes of very easy. It's not going to give you long term protection, but with a black truck your going to be waxing often anyway so why be concerned...

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
I will paint my truck satin at some point, only because it looks good 90% of the time and the body doesn't need to be perfect to look straight.
My wifes last car was black and was a huge pain in the ass. She tried to wax it herself and let it sit too long. There were white flakes EVERYWHERE. Never could get them out of the cracks by the weather stips and stuff. |

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
Meguiers quick detailer every two weeks as per the directions. Goes on easy, looks deep, and isn't long on protection but sure will bring up a streak-free shine!

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
I've used Zaino and Meguiar's on our black car. Zaino is more expensive, but it makes for a very deep and glossy shine. It's an improvement over the Meguiar's in my estimation and it lasts longer.
With both products I've found that using a clay bar twice a year makes all the difference. Just don't drop it and try to reuse it. In fact, don't drop it. Claying gives you a really nice level surface which allows the polish to do it's work properly. The more level you get your top coat, the better the shine. It also helps get rid of minor scratches and swirls. Darren

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
i know this will sound crazy, but one of my friends owns a paint shop and swears by using panty hose. i don't know if he uses it after the wax is buffed in or what, but he swears that panty hose will get rid of swirl marks.

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
I'm not black, but I use Zaino products on the vehicles I detail
A clay bar is a must have for any detail work. Invest in some nice microfiber towels for removing the product as well.

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
I use a product called Dri-wash. I've been using for about 7 years on both light colored and black vehicles (actually does better on darker vehicles that lighter). Anyone that's tried it loves it, if they didn't like it then they didn't use it right... Apply with terry, remove with microfiber, stand back and admire shine.

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
I like to use a layer of EagleOne Nano wax, followed by a Layer of Meguiars nXt gen. Seems to come out pretty good, and that was on some with quite a bit of orange peel. But we did get lots of compliments on it. Which made me happy.

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
After talking with a friend that has been a profesional detailer for 25+ years, wax is the worst thing to use on a car. He said it's like rubbing a candle on it. The best stuff to use is an automotive polish...

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
polish makes for a nice deep shine. wax helps protect paint and makes it easy to remove water spots and such. Both should be used for what they are good for. And clay bars are a must I agree

Re: Black Truck Guys, what do u use 4 wax
Never touch it with rag or brush just go through the touchless washes the more you rub it the more scratches and swirls you are gonna get. 40,000 miles on my truck in this pic I know its only a Dodge
