Jeep Cherokee brakes for the Rear?
I'm looking into rear disk for my truck. I've seen that you can use impala SS/caprice brakes in the rear. Anyone try 99+ Jeep Grand Cherokee rear disk on their trucks? They have a 5x5 bolt pattern too.
I'm just thinking that they may be easier to find in a salvage yard than the caprice/impala brakes. |

Re: Jeep Cherokee brakes for the Rear?
width would be way off I would think. I had a cherokee with full width 14bolt and needless to say it was a little wide

I don't know but I would bet the brakes are small.

I bet they're a decent sized rotor and caliper as they are on a "truck" |

Re: Jeep Cherokee brakes for the Rear?
I had thought about it back when my dad had a 99 grand cherokee. Never researched it enough to figure out what the bolt pattern was though. I know my dad's jeep stopped on a dime. This is definitely something I'll look into assuming I ever get my truck on the road.

Re: Jeep Cherokee brakes for the Rear?
Ok, got my curiosity up. The list says 5-4.5 on the old ones and 5-5 on the 99-06
This is camparing apples to apples or am I talking about the wrong vehicle? (OK from the first pic it looks 4 1/2 but its not, center to center is 4 3/4 it was hard to hold and shoot) JEEP MODEL 92-98 ZJ GRAND CHEROKEE 5on4.5 0.5 99-06 WJ GRAND CHEROKEE 5on5 0.5 Last edited by sneakysnake; 10-27-2006 at 11:08 AM. |

Re: Jeep Cherokee brakes for the Rear?
I'm not sure how this will affect your search but i know the Wrangler dudes swap these rear ends into their Jeeps , may keep the prices up . I'll check with the wrecker here in town .

Re: Jeep Cherokee brakes for the Rear?
Well I might try to make a run to the salvage yard this weekend to see what I can find.
If I find one, I may also take the master cylinder. Apparently the bore and the reservoir size can really have an affect on the brake performance too. I know a lot of the Pro Touring guys who upgrade there brakes have large discussions on the MC bore size for this brake vs this brake. |
