man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

the unspoken rule about white letters tires is that if the tire is "cheap" or "off-brand" or if they have some goofy name like "Remington", or "Gillette Radials" etc., it would be wise to turn the blackwalls out. One of the biggest turn-offs, let say your looking at a 69 Z/28, beautiful black with white stripes, 15X8 rally wheels with......huh?! huge, gowdy looking "GT QUALIFIERS"?, EWWWWWWWWW!!!!! MAN RULE 1,000,001.

I totally agree with this man rule.
However, even if you get BFG's, if they are going on an escort, they need to be black wall out.... although, you'd already be violating another man rule.

BFG Radial T/A's should be the only tire that are allowed WWO on these trucks!

My MT/Rs are white-letters out. You can't get too much more manly than this.

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

I have 32" tall BFG All Terrains on my Tahoe....I really thought about which way to go. Ultimatly I had the white letters out.....brakes up the sidewall a little.

On the other hand, my mom has an S-10 pickup and she had them put the white walls (little white stripe that goes all the way around) out. It looks absolutely horrible, and it was the first thing I said when I saw the atrasity(sp?). But she didn't brake the rule since it doesn't apply to HER...but it did make me sick.

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

When I was younger, you only saw BFG's on cars in magazines. Ive wanted a set since then & now I have brand new ones with the whites out. I have to admit, if they were a different brand they would be sporting black side walls...

I just need to add that for me this rule only applies to my old truck. My wifes truck, my daily driver & my sons truck all have white letters out & arent big buck brand names. It brightens them up with boring wheels, if they had billet wheels or something they would be black for sure. I guess to me it depends on the wheels which way they go. I am a little odd that way...

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

SPOT ON!! Perfect
I think it is time to add to it though. If you own a ford escort or you are buying thin whitewall gramma tires you are no longer a man and therefore man rule 100,000,001 does not apply to you. So you are able to do what ever you please with your white letter/wall.
I love this thread

I would park it in my driveway just the way it is. Hopefully it wouldn't end up like my 72 Nova.

I totally agree with this man rule. Here is the before and after on my 86. The first two pics are with the same tires. third pic is my new BFG's, WLO of course.

Though my 68 will keep the clean look with BFG's BWO.

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

I got a set of dayton tires that came on my donor truck

on the donor truck they are white letter out

nobody has money where I am staying

my nieghbor said I should keep the letters out.

HEEEAAAALLLLLL no!

that will only mask the class and major dollars spent on every other part of the truck

next someone down here will be tellin me how cool my truck will be with camo on the bottom

that should be another man law

"DEER AND DUCKS SEE THE ENTIRE TRUCK, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SNEAK UP ON THEM IN YOUR TRUCK NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO"!!!!!!!!!!!
