Hard brakes??
 What does it mean when the brake booster has brake fluid inside of it? Is this fluid suppose to be there? I replaced the brake master cylinder and the brakes are still stiff. In the case it Say's delco. It comes from a 72 Chevy c-10 and is on a 69 Chevy c-10. Does the brake master cylinder use a gasket where it meets the brake booster? I know it uses a grommet what im talking about is on the actuall mating surface. and if the grommet is a bit torn can this be cause for the hard brakes? It was like that on the 72 and it worked fine and I don't see why I would be having these problems now. Any input would be a appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Problem was were auto zone parts, only place around at the time. I ahve seen some with a gasket around the flange and some dont. When I replaced mine I just put a thin bead of silicone to protect water from getting in there. Thats about all I can offer. Aaron |

Thank you for the quick reply an the master cylender is fro
autozone.I ll go and exchange it later on today. And follow the silicon tip while replacing it.

What place do you guys recommend for the re built kit for the original master cylinder?? The bastards at auto zone don't carry them any more they only carry the rebuilt master cylinder.

your booster is probably junk too.
The brake fluid eats the rubber diaphram, and causes the hard pedal. No need for a gasket or sillicone, just bolt it on. |

Will have to get a new one . Is there a way to test to see of the booser works Like presurisind it or some thing similar?

Vac guage. Put some vac to it and see if it holds it. Not to much though. It sounds to me like it is bad though, if there is a hard pedal. I would test it though, just so you don't spend extra money you don't need to.
