largest wheels\tires

Hello All,
I was looking for an answer to my question in the forum and could not find it....or over looked it. I want to know the biggest wheels and tires I can put on a stock 71 Chevy 2wd. I was looking at some Mickey Thompson wheels.
thanks for any ideas
Alan

Re: largest wheels\tires

You can put 18.5" wide M/T under the rear with no mods needed. No rubbing issues at all, it's tight but it works and looks good.

Any pics? The widest I've seen has been 10's and they stick out the side about 1/2"

I'd like to see pics as well. I have 15X10's with 5 inch backspacing and a M/T ET Street 29X13.5 on my 72 and it's REALLY tight.

Re: largest wheels\tires

Has the stock rallye wheels that have been spaced to give the offset needed. If you'd like me to get better pictures, I can within the next couple of weeks, cause we have the rear end torn out of the truck. But yeah it gets to with 1/2in of the springs. M/T 29x18.5

Can you post the backspacing when you get a chance? Would like to see more pics of the truck as well. Looks like a nice one!

I forgot to mention one thing, and thats that the truck has had the bed cut to fit the wheels/tires along with bigger wheel wells for the tires. thats the only thing it did require. sorry I failed to mention that before

Yup, thats it. Prices I've seen make them around $205 per tire, if you want them in wrinkle walls it will cost $210-$215.

they look normal from the side since all the extra wheel/rim is on the inside. i hope to have my front rims along with my trim rings/center caps soon.
