6-Lug front rotors ECE

Do these rotors fit on 71-72 GM 1/2 ton factory spindles?
Are they a direct replacement upgrade swap for use on 70 and earlier GM trucks with a 1/2 ton application?

Yes. I think they come with the race( been a while) and the price that I saw recently was $89 each.

I can answer this with 100% accuracy. I installed '71 rotors on my 67. I was going to install a 5 lug rear, but could not find one for a reasonable price. The rear in my truck was in excellent shape so I bought a set of ECE 6 lug rotors so the whole truck was 6 lug again. I used the same bearings and races out of the old 5 lug rotors (they were only 2 years old and I got the them at the local autozone.) Here's a pic. Hope that answers your question. As far as using them on 67-70 spindles, I don't think that will work because they don't have the stuff on them to bolt the calipers too, but ECE sells spindles that will work on 67-70 trucks

Ha! I think that answers my needs.
I have a stock set of 72 Front spindle disc assemblies.
I guess all I need now is the ECE drop spindle, ball joints, rebuilt calipers and these rotors!

Don't mean to hi-jack but, going a little futher on this. Would those 6 lug rotors fit on a 1984 Chevy truck spindles without any problems? I have the complete 5 lug setup that I want to use, but stay with 6 lug.

If you use the ECE spindles I don't think it matters, but if you have a 67-70 truck and you want to swap spindles with 71 and 72 parts, you will also need 71-72 tie rod ends, and I think a 71-72 pitman arm. You will also need to grind the little nipple thing down (the steering bumpstop on the spindle) because the bump stop on 67-70 a arms is different than 71-72 A arms. I cheated and used the ENTIRE suspension off a '71. BUT like I said, if you use ECE stuff I think they make it so it's a direct bolt in kit for 67-70. You may want to contact their customer service reps (which are very helpful) to confirm this.

As far as the ECE rotors fitting on an '84... 'give 'em a call

My stock 5-lug discs show 1/2-20"

Can you use a 73-up 1/2 ton disc spindle on earlier trucks?
What is meant when some advertise the 1" vs. the 1.25" rotor?
Are the newer trucks using a thicker rotor?

Lastly can this 6-lug disc work on a 73-up 1/2 ton spindle?

A quick question that goes against the grain on this thread...
Why not just swap the rear to 5 lug? 89 bucks for a rotor is not all that cheap... and in the future, when you need brake rotors, this could become a real PITA when the one company stops making them... or when you are stranded in BFE West Virginia with a burned up hub due to not enough preload on the bearings, and you have to wait 2 or 3 days to have fed ex deliver the specialty parts.
If you convert to 5 lug in back, you can use normal, fun of the mill 5 lug rotors up front, that cost more like 25 bucks each (guestimate) and any auto zone, advance auto, napa, or even GM dealer will have right on there shelf. Even if you end up getting custom axles for the rear axle asuming you can't locate a 71/72 rear, that isn't a maintnance part, and onless you have stupid power and awsome traction, you'll probably NEVER need to replace the rear axle shafts.

Just a point/counter point observation.

Wow, this dropped to page 3 fast! I got my rotors from a board member who bought them and never used them for $120 shipped. I looked for 2 years and I never found a 5 rear for my truck for under $250 locally. I looked for a long time, bought the swap sheets... nothing. There were some on the board, but always too far away. I would conisder ECE's stuff to be high quality and would expect MANY miles out of them. Even if they do warp someday, I should be able to have them turned at least once, and ECE is a pretty strong company, don't see them going under any time soon.....
