What did you get done? 11/05

I was off this weekend so I got a few things done. Friday night my daughter stayed at a friends house so I took my wife to the movies. We watched "the Guardian" with Kevin Costner. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it. The show was really good, and it is one that you can take the family to. There is very little cussing, no nudity, and no violence.

Saturday I cleaned one half of my garage, then cleaned both our daily drivers, and put a coat of wax on my 06 Silverado CC. I took my wife parents to dinner, then went to a couple of local cruise nights.

Today I spent in the yard with my yard crew. We cleaned all the beds, cut everything back, and planted fall color. I took my daughter and wife to see Santa Clause III. It sucked! Don't waste your time on this one, it was booooring.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 11/05

i did not get anything truck done as i stayed at school this weekend working on papers and trying to figure out what classes to take for the spring. I really should have gone to school to become a desil tech or a dealer mechanic or just stayed with the compainy i work for over the summer maintaning rental equippment. Don't get me wrong these days a college education is worth alot when looking for a job but man it is so much $$. did make a deal with my lenders (aka my parents) that if i go to the instated school they will gve me the diffrance between the two schools to do with as i want hence the thread i did a while back about spending some money to make my truck a manual and adding a few things. Any ways i did plan some stuff for net weekend which include getting my trucks collent system fpressure flushe and pulling the insurance for winter, also cleaning out the gardge, wiring in my tach and helping my dad put on the new drivers side hub, new taylor wires, and new acdelco spark pluggs on the tahoe.

also if i get a chance i am gonna run to the junk yard and grab a set of stock tails and hosings to see how i like that look. i will also do the inside of the new hosings with chrome tape to make them brighter

Re: What did you get done? 11/05

Well, I worked from 7am Friday until 4ish Sat am so I was one tired SOB.

I slept in Sat & got up to take my weekly trip to the shop & see what my good friends were up to. N2Billet is making some good progress on his latest aquisition & my buddy Rogers shop projects are moving along well. After getting home from the shop I made an extension cord for my new tools that were recently purchased. The cord allows using a welder or plasma-cutter in the driveway & I just happen to have 1 of each.

Sat night my GF & I went to see The Departed. Pretty good flick but kinda violent (it was a long movie too). Sun we watched the Cowboys lose & then the race.

I needed a lazy day.....

Re: What did you get done? 11/05

Changed oil+filter as well as the PCV valve, rode around for a while moaning about the sad shape of Ol' Red. Pulled the grile from the 84 and cleaned it up a bit. Ordered a new CD player for my truck for my birthday. Pioneer DEH-P5800MP. Should have install pics next edition of "What Did You Get Done?"

Re: What did you get done? 11/05

Went to Raleigh, NC to pickup my '85 Blazer, my buddy's dad owns a landscape company there and let us use a truck NO CHARGE, so it only cost me fuel to get it here. which was still $95.00, because the F350 only got 6.5 MPG. haha. Got the truck here on Saturday, and pushed into a parking space. Today I took the trash out of the inside, removed the flimsy little gay stock console, and also pulled the running boards off of it. Now, I just gotta find a yard to pull a vent wing out of, and a door mirror. Should be puttin a motor in it in a few weeks. See post here.

It is a little older than those, it is a '53 Desoto Fire Dome Eight, removed from the Desoto...been sitting in the yard since 1960. It is a 276 cu. It is missing the air cleaner assembly, generator, and power steering assembly...but other than that it is complete and clean...so far (after a little disassembly).

Re: What did you get done? 11/05

Me and my son made a dump run on Saturday, too much junk in the garage. Threw away more computer parts than I care to think about.
Washed my truck Sunday, and then pulled it back in the garage
Ordered the ls1 install guide/kit on Friday from local dealer. Dreaming about some wheels and tires and lowering my truck, just can't seem to find any leaves left on the money tree out back.

Re: What did you get done? 11/05

I fianlly finished tying up all the loose ends on a TPI swap I have been working on for a guy. I made some mounts for a dual electric fan set-up he got at the boneyard. He also wanted a 73-80 column installed, i got it done, but dont recommend it.
As a side note: an 89 Ford Bronco fuel pump works excellent as a frame rail mounted pusher. I was very impressed, and it is much cheaper than many aftermarket pumps(@$100).

Well I never post on this subject, becuz of me being lazy. I just looked at my truck as usual. I did however attend my first airshow. It was awesome. It's good to see my tax dollars going towards such a powerful/strategical use.

Re: What did you get done? 11/05

I actually got some truck related stuff done. Changed out the valve cover gaskets on my 78 K-10. It would just about smoke you out if when I drove it. Also changed the plug wires and vacuum lines. Had a small engine fire a couple of months ago and singed everything. That would be the one thing that everyone should have in their truck is a fire extinguisher, if not for it, my truck would have burned up. Also yanked the battery tray out of my 79 diesel parts truck and put it in the K-10 to replace the rusted one. I still have a little oil burnoff, but I think it is just some old oil on the spark plug heat shields.

Re: What did you get done? 11/05

Saturday morning had a local shop install a pair O-Sensor bungs. Installed O-Sensors, spent better part of Saturday and Sunday am wiring ignition switched O-sensor heating circuit. Oh yea filter and oil change. Next step, bring O-scope and monitor both O-Sensors while seting idle mixture. I think that Holley (4175) is way too lean. - next wekend.

Re: What did you get done? 11/05

I went to the back shop, saw my baby stuck behind the camper, and decided to give it a couple minutes run time. Hopped in, turned the key and she roared to life on the second crank. Ran it for 10 minutes until it was at full operating temp, revved it a few times, then shut her down for the next month Kinda depressing, but at least my 96 has proven to be a very reliable rig

Watched Borat on Saturday... That was a ridiculous funny movie, except maybe the naked fighting scene... yuck!!!

I had a total down weekend. We all need them from time to time, and mine was overdue. Played with the kids, played video games and just had fun.

Re: What did you get done? 11/05

Worked on the "garagemahal" all weekend. Prepared the floor to pour concrete this week. Made sure the base gravel was flat and and the slab averaged 5 inches thick throughout. Put down moisture barrier and wire mesh. Also installed the meter base and electrical panel and wired them together along with a few outlets and lights. Commercial power should arrive this week also. I am about 30 days behind schedule but atleast I will have power and a floor before "true" Atlanta winter arrives (rain, more rain, cold rain, ice and then some more rain) In the words of Forest Gump..."one day it started raining.....and it didnt stop"
