Did I pay to much?
First off, Hi guys. New member here. I have been around a few months, mainly in the photoshop forum. I live in Phoenix Arizona for now, I am going to Motorcycle Mechanics Institute at the present time. Once I graduate it is back to Kansas for me.
Anyways the reason I am posting. Yesterday I was driving by a house and noticed a Suburban sitting behind it. It looked pretty decent, so I decided to see if it was for sale. The owner was an elderly gentleman, and said yes it was for sale. He was the original owner, bought it brand spanking new. This baby has never left Arizona, rust is bare minimal I tell you. The bad: Small dent on passenger side tailight. Rear hatch window is cracked. (looks like a BB shot) Steering wheel is ruinated. Minimal rust spots about the size of dime holes under side trim. Headliner is falling in some spots. No AC The Good: 1 owner vehicle, that has never left Arizona. Original 350 engine. Starts right up and drives good. Automatic Transmission. Power steering. Everything is there, original paint.....never any body work done previous. Last edited by Scorp; 04-08-2007 at 04:32 PM. |

Re: Did I pay to much?
Nice truck, nice price. Let me know if you want to sell the seat belts!! If it were mine I would buff it up, slide some ralleys and slightly larger tires and enjoy. These are the ultimate old family trucksters!!

You got a heck of a deal. You said n/ac do you mean it never had air or the air don't work. What year is it? You did good.

Re: Did I pay to much?
It never/doesn't have air conditioning. It is a 1971. Thanks for all the responses guys. I just thought to myself at the time, I would never find a cleaner, unmolested suburban. So, i said screw it and made an impulse buy.

Re: Did I pay to much?
Looks sweet. Id say you got a smooking deal too. I wish all of mine had those small repairs. The steering wheels out in the south west always seem to disentagrate, mine in my orange and white did. That sucks someone shot a bb through the glass. Again sweet ride.

Re: Did I pay to much?
I wish my impulse buys would turn out that good. I have bought cars/trucks off the side of the road in the middle of the night. Next morning get the wife to go with me to pick it up bragging all the way about what a good deal I got or how good it looks. When we got there it would be rough as a cob and my wife would start in. I hate when that happens. At least MOST of the time I didn't have to hear about it until I got home. You should have a house full of happy people.

Re: Did I pay to much?
I am in northern AZ and that is not an everyday deal, but there are a lot of nice burbs in near original shape here. Let me know if you want/need anything, I have a couple of chevy trucks/blazer/burbs, not trying to sell just offering help.

Re: Did I pay to much?
seems like a verry nice find .
do you have something in the states like paintles dentpulling ? it kindah big now in europe cause its a cheaper repair a lot of insurancecompanies turn to this procedure , the use funy shaped rods to push the dents back out from the inside then they use a teflon pencil to tap the little outer dents the tool make back in and polisch the paint up untill no mark is seen anymore . this works great on doors and frontfenders as long as the paint isnt scratched beyond the colourcoat , it might work on those small dents you have in the car
