WIW: Apraised value?
Hey all. It's finally time! I'm getting plates and insurance for the truck this week!!! I'm going to give Geico a call and see what they can do for an apraised valued truck for insurance. They've been good to me so far, hopefully we can work something out. I live in an apartment complex so the truck will not be garaged. I've looked through the classic insurance places and I don't meet their qualifications in one area or another... so I hope to do an apraised value with Geico. Here's the truck, what would y'all say it's worth (not the selling price) but what an apraiser would put it at. There is nothing fancy about the engine bay, it's driver quality at best and the interior is nowhere near done, but I do have the stuff to finish it. The paint job is home done and is a 10 footer at best. IMO the truck looks better in the pics than in person. Please let me know what y'all think so I don't go to an apraiser with my pants down.
Also, anyone know a good apraiser in the Greenville, SC area? What do appraisers charge to "do" a vehicle?? If you aren't familiar with my truck, there is more than enough info on it in the build thread in my signature. Thanks all

I have all of my vehicles insured through American Family Ins. with an appraised value. They always ask me what value I want it insured for and usually figure what I have in it plus $2000. That usually works out pretty close. Then you have to have it appraised. I take mine to a body shop that works on old cars and trucks and they accepted that. A couple of the ones I had appraised the appraiser suggested that I up the insured value from what I came up with. If a person didn't have a clue on value I would just take it to an appraiser first. It cost me $25 apiece to have mine appraised. I'm sure you know that the higher the appraisal the more the Ins. will be.... You might see if there is anything here. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search LockDoc

Re: WIW: Apraised value?
When I had my 2wd Blazer appraised the guy had no clue what it was worth. He actually asked me what it was worth! I had printed out copies of what 2wd blazers were being sold for on ebay and other sites and gave them to him and he appraised it lots higher than I would have!
Take some info with you, some of these guys are good at old cars but don't know much about the trucks. Rg

Loc Doc, thanks for the info bud. I'm somewhat of a seasoned member, but don't be afraid to say you think it's worth 2K, I would just like to know other's experience and what y'all think she would be appraised at (NOT what it would sell for) because we all know those are two WAY different numbers. Thanks
