Look what I found (SWB 2wd GMC)

I was at a friends shop today looking at some builds he is working on and ran accross this in the storage building. It is a 2wd 1969 GMC shot fleet straite 6cly with a floor shift 4spd. It is a totally stock and he said it runs and drives great. He bought it for a new shop truck that he was going to slab with 20's and do a Patina Logo on the doors for his hot rod shop but has since decided they need the new pull truck more so he does not know what he is going to do with it. He just registered before SEMA and was all ready to start the build when he came back. It is manual steering and brakes but he says it all works well. When I asked him if he wants to sell he was not sure. He said he is into it for about $5200 with reg and just might let it sit. Just thought I would post some pics and if any one has to have it I can work on him abit and see were it goes It is up in Santa Rosa Ca.

Re: Look what I found (SWB 2wd GMC)

Used to see old government trucks equiped like this sell for around $800-$1000 back in 1975 at state auctions!! Time flies!! Clean example. Very close to look of my 1st truck 1971 swb I had in 1979.

That truck kind of looks like it has the optional 16" rims on it.

Re: Look what I found (SWB 2wd GMC)

Seems a little pricey to me, no options really, no paint, rims, nothing. also needs a grill, I would pass myself, even at 4500. JMO of course

*edit* Maybe it just needs part of the grill.

Re: Look what I found (SWB 2wd GMC)

Yes it just needs that one corner of the grill fixed. Yes it does have some rust but alot less then what normaly rolls into to my shop Yes it does have a glove box sticker but my picture was to dark to make any thing out, sorry.
I will be talking to my friend tonight and will try and see if he has decided what he is going to do with it. So it may end up in th efor sale section. If I did not already have 8 projects of my own right now and a shop full of customers vehicals I would jump on it in a heart beat if it was available.

Re: Look what I found (SWB 2wd GMC)

Good looking truck but price seems pretty high. I know the value is up in your area, but here in Kansas, that could probably be bought for $2,500. As you know, rust is a big issue so the cleaner it is the more it is worth. Good luck on getting him to come down - I know you know what your are doing having seen your incredible skills in other posts and if you get the price to what you are comfortable with - go for it!

Like I said before I am not even look at buying it. I have enough projects and I am picking up a 70 short step this weekend to make a few bucks on and get my "Project slow build" further along. I just stubled along this one while checking out one of next years SEMA cars a friend is building for Mopar. It will be in place of Foose's car at next years show. I just thought I would share some pics and see if I could talk him out of it for a GMC guy.

In pretty deep, hope he's able to recover the $$ when he decides to sell.

Decent truck for sure.

Re: Look what I found (SWB 2wd GMC)

thats a nice truck , it is probably as good as the 67 c/10 I bought a few months ago , around here a GMC is hard if not impossible to sell , they just are not hot like a chevy , a friend of mine had a 68 GMC and tryed to sell it here locally and it sat out beside the road for month's he was asking $2000 for it he finally went and bought a 68 long bed chevy for $200 and put the chevy front grill and tailgate on it then sat it out by the road it lasted 3 day's and he got $2500 for it , the grill is what erk's me about the GMC , if I had that particular truck I would throw the GMC stuff in the first dumpster I came too and then build it a chevy ,, I was wondering the other day what would be harder to sell ? a GMC or a longbed ? then it hit me what if you had a long bed GMC !!!

Re: Look what I found (SWB 2wd GMC)

I talked to him tonight and I was off on the price, he is into it for $4250 including registration. Yes it is a bit much if you are looking for a hot rod truck to finish up. But when you build vehicals for a living you are way more money ahead to have one that has never been messed with and every single part is their even the jack and spring mount He still has not said if he wants to sell or not but I will keep everyone posted.

I too have a dumpster- and a Long Bed 3/4 ton GMC and believe it or not some of us dont get why GMCs get slapped around. They got a cool design that ya dont see on every corner!
We aint knockin yer Chevy's but but we get knocked alot. Guess everyone is entitled to an opinion, but Mama taught me "if ya aint got nuthin nice to say dont talk".
