New Chevy Owner
I just bought a 1968 Chevy p/u 1/2 ton. It has a rebuilt 350 with a 4 speed tranny with an edelbrock performer intake manifold, edelbrock carb (not sure which one) edelbrock air intake, chrome valve covers, doug thorley headers and dual 2.5" exhaust. Now the best part... $1,800!!! And he gave me another set of CHEVY rims and tires plus 4 additional chrome rims! Plus the body is straight! I've already started some mods. I installed a grant steeing wheel, ordered power steering off an 82' chevy (close ratio) as well as the 82 swaybar. I'll have to post pics within the next couple of days. It runs SUPER strong! I've started into the body work as well, stripping off the old bondo and sanding. I also ordered rocker panels for the front (there are small amounts of rust on the driver side). I'll be posting soon to see if anyone in SoCal wants to cut the old ones off and weld the new ones in (they are from Classicheartbeat.com) I'm willing to pay, but $200 for both seems high to me (cost from most shops). Anyone want to do it for $100 in SoCal? Also if anyone can install power steering I can pay for that too. Just let me know, and I will have pics posted soon!

Re: New Chevy Owner

Re: New Chevy Owner
Here's some of the pics. I've already started sanding and I took off the old cracked bondo, and put new bondo on where it needs it. (It still needs to be sanded!) Overall the body is straight though and the engine runs great!

Re: New Chevy Owner
Here's some more, the rims and tires I got with the truck, also I took off the passenger mirror and sanded down gradually to 1200. Once I start the flitz polishing it will really SHINE! The rim is sitting outside so it was dusty but I wiped my finger across it just to give you an idea of how shiny the finish still is. I'll probably be selling the extra rims and tires locally in So Cal in the Recycler soon.

Re: New Chevy Owner
Ya done good! Great price too! Makes my $2000 truck look like a rat rap. Those 4 into 2 into 1 headers aren't cheap either.

Re: New Chevy Owner
Yeah he said they were $350 Doug Thorley headers. Also it's all sanded down with new bondo showing so it looks pretty rough. It looked much better when I picked it up.

Re: New Chevy Owner
Nice!
$200 to install rockers is cheap. it isn't exactly an "easy" job, you really should take the doors off to do it. The aftermarket rockers don't always fit correctly. You have to "modify" them to fit correctly. If I had to charge someone to put rockers on it would probably be in the $250-$400 range depending on how they fit and if I ran into any problems. most places are going to charge around $50/hour - maybe higher is SoCal. So thier basically quoting you 2/hr's per side, which is fast thinking

Re: New Chevy Owner
I ordered my rockers from classic heartbeat.com, I searched and a couple of other people off the forum had bought rockers from them and they said they fit perfectly. I'll cross my fingers!
