AXLE identification
Hey,
I believe is a gm 10- bolt rear on an 85 k10 but when replacing my axle seal the part listed at the auto dealer parts store was too small. On the side of the axle the number TUM G291 and GM 34 I assume it is an aftermarket axle on the truck. It has a spool in it as well but that is besides the point. Any help w/ these numbers would be great. Thanks Chad Last edited by chadbork84k10; 11-10-2006 at 07:10 PM. |

Re: AXLE identification
easier with a pic or description of the shape and diff cover. Semifloating, full, c-clip? A 10 bolt would be stock, but you would be almost insane to spool one!

Re: AXLE identification
Ill try to get a pic tomorrow. Thought maybe the id numbers might mean something more. It's not stock because none of the stock seals work on it. I know it would be crazy to run a spool on a stock 10 bolt w/ 35's. Anyone else any idea's w/ those numbers. btw bought it this way planning to change rear end but changing seal in the mean time.

Re: AXLE identification
Surely it's not a hybrid axle..there'd be no use for a hybrid 10 bolt.
Picture will help |

Re: AXLE identification
yup, it has tabs, so there's no question it's a 10 bolt centersection.
Thinking out loud here and highly unlikely- might it have 9 inch or dana 44 (even 30/35) outers? did you try taking the old seals to the store and opening every box until you find a match? Last edited by magnethead; 11-11-2006 at 09:57 PM. |

Re: AXLE identification
Did that and got one and it snaps in but they couldnt tell me what the seal was designed for. I hope it works? Just trying to get the right seal so i Wont have issues w/ it and or need further parts..
Thanks for the input, dunno if a pic of the input would help or not? Thanks Chad |

Re: AXLE identification
You sure the parts place even has the right part number? You could try going to a different store and see what they give you.
