anybody use wheel dollies?
I found these today.http://tireskate.com/ts.php
Does anyone have any experiences with wheel dollies for moving vehicles around in the shop without their engines running? Or the tireskates linked above? thanks for the replies.

Re: anybody use wheel dollies?
I have two sets of them we use especialy when the engine is out and the owner brings it to us to work on. We like them because you can roll front, back and side getting the vehicle into about any spot in the shop you want without having having to turn the wheel back up turn the wheel pull up if you know what I mean. We use to have to do our side pulling with floor jacks and let me tell you these things roll a lot easier than pulling a 4k truck side ways with two or three jacks.

Re: anybody use wheel dollies?
i got a set from northern tool, they work great for placing the truck in the garage when i was restoring it. made it alot easier to shove it up against the wall when i needed the space to work on another vehicle. highly recommended, however i did encounter a problem rolling over the seams in the concrete.

Re: anybody use wheel dollies?
I found some locally for about that price, but I passed becasue they had plastic wheels. Now that I look at the picture in the link you provided those look like they have plastic wheels too.
They would probably hold up, but I have found better ones with metal wheels and that seemed better to me.

Re: anybody use wheel dollies?
I have a couple of the Harbor freight myself. Work great for what I do. One thing I did do to make them roll better because mine have bushings not bearings on the wheels. I took them apart, polished the rolling surfaces and greased them with high temp wheel bearing grease, they work a lot better now. I have done the same with everything that is china made, they don't lube anything well

Re: anybody use wheel dollies?
The ones I had the wheels was hard like rubber. I know I sound crazy but it was hard but still kinda squishy. I got mine from a body shop supplier about ten years ago.

Re: anybody use wheel dollies?
I to want to get a set or two of them but my shop floor is in bad shape. I have cranks/control joints about every 5' in both directions. What I plan on doing is getting all teh joints cleaned out real well then use non shrink high PSI grout to fill all the cracks and smooth things out abit. I will also use concrete bonding agent to keep it all in place. I am also starting to paint out of my shop and this will make it real easy to sweep all the dust and dirt up before spraying.

Re: anybody use wheel dollies?
I agree with all of the above, I have limited space in my workshop and it makes it real easy for me to put it up against one wall to work on it. Steel wheels are the only way to go. I have a whole Jimmy on mine and it still rolls around. For the price, a good investment!! J.

Re: anybody use wheel dollies?
I did the same thing as qksilver. Had to take everything apart and lube. Chinese stuff is not the best. I still have a struggle to move my 4000 lb stepside around on them.

Re: anybody use wheel dollies?
I use them all the time, make sure you get the rubber casters if possible, they are easier to roll around the the steel ones.

Re: anybody use wheel dollies?
I want some too, I just put GQ up against one of the garage walls for the
winter so I would have room on the other side to work on BLOCLVL and it was a pita getting it close to the wall, I backed in and pulled out for over 45 min. till I got it close to the wall, then dragged by floor jack the rest
