Got a lot done this weekend...

I had a four day weekend and spent most of it working on truck.

I got several things accomplished,

1. Installed 23" Lokar shifter on 400 turbo

2. Installed 1 1/4" sway bar on frontend this was a major improvement

3. Fixed malfunction in cluster

4. Wired in new backup lights

Now all I need is to spend some time on brakes,

Re: Got a lot done this weekend...

casterbuster,

How did the shifter work out.... Clear seat OK? How big a hole in floor? Got any pics? I was wondering what length to get for mine. Thanks.

Re: Got a lot done this weekend...

It only took about three hours... in the drive way

I did the whole install with the tranny in place, but if you have it out, install the braket before you put it back in. Not, that big of a problem if already installed it would just be easier. There is not alot of room between tranny and tunnel so if you have big hands like me it just takes a little longer.

I ordered the classic boot to go with mine, it came with a chrome ring that is about 4" in diameter I used the inside circle as a template for the hole in the tunnel and still had to notch it out where the allen head screws attached to the bracket I will get pictures up later...

The shifter is nice and performs great, I have no clearance issues. You can mount the shifter in several different location on the the bracket. As close to the seat or as far away as you like I was one hole from being all the way foward, this worked really well for me.

As far as what length with mine in park the knob is up by the radio, which i think looks pretty sweet, but you may want is lower.

Re: Got a lot done this weekend...

Congrats on the parts installs, good stuff to add to the truck! I too recently put a 1 1/4" ECE bar on my truck, NIGHT AND DAY difference! The only crappy thing about my trucks suspesion now is the sloppy steering box.

LockDoc, My shifter measures 20" exactly from the floor to the top of it. On Lokars site they list a 16" and a 23" for the floor mount ones... I bought mine used from a board memeber so I don't know what it was listed as. I bought a tilt auto column, but I love the lokar so much I think I'm going to remove the auto stuff on the tilt and fill the holes.

Here a couple pics for ya.

Yours is most likely a 16" because mine a lot higher than that. I think the measurement is just the length of the shifter shaft. Mine is 23" plus about 3" from the top of the tunnel

Thanks 67ChevyRedneck. I've already removed the column shifter stuff on mine.

Could you still post some pics? I'm curious to see how much higher it sits. Have you driven the truck with it yet? I couldn't believe how absolutely awesome it works. It shifts into every gear perfectly.

Re: Got a lot done this weekend...

It will be awhile before I can get pics up, truck is three hours west of me and I am not planning on going back down there until January. Fixing to have new young one in December. So, the Doctor has us on no travel until after baby comes.

Yeah I have driven it and yes it does work great. I really like it any ways
