Tires
Whats the widest tires that can fit on a 72 Chevy Fleetside Longbed and not stick out the sides and still look great?

Re: Tires
It depends on the offset of your wheels... Ive seen 33x12.50's on a stock 68 3/4 ton and I thought it looked good. they werent sticking out.

Re: Tires
Yep, all depends on offset.

Re: Tires
I've seen 275/60 15's on rear of some trucks and about a 255/60 15 or 255/70 15 on the front.

Re: Tires
C'mon........Let's think just the right offset. I know you can fit larger than a 275 series tire on these things. I've wondered this as well since I'm thinking I can fit an 18x10 wheel with a 295/45/18 on it and have it fit nicely in the wheel well with about a 7" drop.
What's the biggest wheel tire combo somebody's gotten away with (lowered 2wd fleet)? Widest rim???.....(with the right offset)!

Re: Tires
I've had 295/60/15 BFG's on mine for a couple of years. There on 15 X 10 truck rallies. No scrubbing or scraping. the trucks got about a 2/4 drop (from old springs).

Re: Tires
Come to think of it, I have heard of people putting 295's on them and it sounds like its working for Jim and kbs. Do either of you guys have pictures of your truck that you could post on here so we could see how they look with the wide tires on them?

Re: Tires
Radman has 255/70/15's in front and 285/70/15 in the rear of his truck. I don't have any pics of it, but if you send a PM, he might send you some.

Re: Tires
Way back when I first got mine, it had 295/50/15's on a 10 inch wide rim (backs) that did fit with some occasional rubbing when I had a load in the back, but that was mainly because the rim had a little too much neg. offset. Looked to me that there was plenty of room to tuck them in a little further. I don't have the 295/45/18's yet.....that's just my plan....at least for today! Seems it changes daily!!!
I ended up putting 275/60/15's on cuz they just filled up the wheel well better and where a little more inside the fender. The pic is with the 275's.

Re: Tires
This is my truck..285 35's on 22x9.5's with 6 in backspacing..Fit good up front, no rubbing.. Tuck too much in the rear so im gona space them out. Im pretty sure im gonna go with 285 45's though before it gets on the road if theyll fit. Last edited by bs25j; 11-14-2006 at 08:53 PM. |

Re: Tires
if you want to cut the bed floor back to the frame rails you can get a
mt 31-16.50-15 under it with the right offset wheel. if i remember correctly a 5 or 5.5 offset will get those under it but i don't remember 100% what the offset needs to be
