Big Block/TH400 Guys, I Need A Pic Please
Tryin to get all the parts together to turn my 70 3/4 ton 350 back to an oringinal 402 big block, wondering if i could get a pic of the throttle linkage, and any kind of kickdown linkages and stuff. I was looking in the service manual and saw several different linkage combos and an electric kickdown switch, mine seems to have none of these. I want to turn this truck back to stock, since the only thing ever done to it was a 350 swap by the PO due to a blown motor. So any pics of factory style big block resto's would be great, thanks, Ryan

This is a pic off an ebay ad that might help. I don't think the bigblocks used any kickdown linkage but some kind of solenoid switch instead.

I went and looked at my 72 truck and it looked the same. That big solenoid looks like an a/c idle up.

Is this what you're looking for? It's on my 69 and I don't know if it's the same as a 70.

Here is a pic of the kickdown switch as mounted on a Q-Jet carb.

Re: Big Block/TH400 Guys, I Need A Pic Please
My 71 looked almost exactly like the one in the pic from Texas C10. The solenoid has nothing to do with AC as mine was not an AC truck. There is no kick down switch for the TH400 on a 71 or 72. Can’t say about the 70 though.

It is weird my 78 has nothing on the carb at all. My 72 looks like the first picture. Both trucks have TH400s and AC. I have no idea how the TH400 kickdown works.

Here is a picture of the kickdown switch for the TH 400 as used on the 71-72 trucks. It is mounted inside the cab above the accelerator pedal.

Re: Big Block/TH400 Guys, I Need A Pic Please
the turbo400 uses a electric kickdown the thing bolted to the base of carb is activated at wot and sends 12v to the spade connector on drivers side of trans u can do away with that big swich and use a mini microswitch like the ones used on a nitrous system 12v coming in to swithc and 12v coming out a wot
