'79 engine mounts
I finally installed my '79 frontend. I want to use the '79 engine stands. Do I just line up the stands with the crossemember & redrill the frame to match?? I would have to use a washer underneath each bolt beween the stand & frame to act as a spacer. Or do I line up the holes in the frame & redrill the crossmember?? I read the FAQ on this, but I do not think that it applies to using the late '70s crossmember....

Re: '79 engine mounts
I would line up the holes on the frame rail and redrill the crossmember, that way everything will line up as it should without spacers. My 67 had the 73 and up mounts done like that and it worked well.

Re: '79 engine mounts
I would install the mounts and stands on the engine, and set it in there and bolt it to the tranny, then drill where needed. This way, the engine is still in the correct location for the truck, and your stock drive shaft will work, as will the fan shroud and any clutch linkages you may have.

Re: '79 engine mounts
I figured with this being a common swap, somebody would have done this. If nothing else comes up, then I will do what Longhorn Man suggested & hopefully will only have to do what 70rs/ss suggested....Anybody else????
