Does anyone know if a wood floor from a longbed fleetside can be shortened on each end and be used on a shortbed?

Yes, it can. I think the shortbed floor requires one less metal crossmember to support the wood floor, but other that that,(and the length of the metal strips between each piece of wood) they are the same if I'm not mistaken.

I am sure it can be trimmed but i would try to get some measurements off of a SWB first. Measure twice, cut once

In my case it's already drilled up. It's still intact with the crossmembers and metal strips running lengthwise. I found it in a yard years ago and it has been sitting on end in my garage ever since. But the mounting holes for the frame on a long bed and every other nuance for that type of bed is there. I guess that I didn't explain all of this in the first post. But yes I am very good at measuring first and would do it more than twice just to make sure. Thanks for the input.

worse case is your mounting holes are different. You could still add bolts the the old holes so you wouldn't see them....not sure if that makes since but I say go for it if you already have the bed. Might cut on both ends and see if the mounting holes come close.

I'm not ready to do it yet. I was just checking out options, because it was a fairly new oak floor and just needed to be refinished because the PO used the wrong material. But I'd rather move it than ruin it. And am hearing strong rumblings about cleaning the garage. Which would seem to be the logical time to act on it. Thanks for the input. I do believe that I will do some tape measure work before I do anything rash.
