Are you guys painting your new spindels?? Or do they have some sort of rust protection on them???

I didn't paint my ECE ones when i put them on

they have rust protection on them, but after a drive in the rain they will rust unless you paint em

Painted mine, hope this stops the rust!

They won't rust, per se, but over time they will develop a handy "patina" that won't look quite as cool. These are cast iron with steel spindles (which won't corrode with a happy encapsulation in grease) so you have to do something.

Painting will work, but over time will flake off. I recommend powder coat. For two spindles it would be very inexpensive, plus be darn near impervious. Just make sure you have them masked real well, or else you can look forward to a couple hours with a file refitting all the tolerance parts. Be careful of the parts where the calipers slide, as you might not realize just how tight a fit that is until you have had to clean off the powder coat to make them fit again.

I used Rustoleum "HAMMERED BLACK". Its a textured finish thats tough as nails. I used it on all of my suspension parts and it stands up on a driver just fine. Its easy to touch up but really never needs much. $5 a can at Lowes.
