how wide is too wide?

hey guys....i am about to sell my sport bike to fix up my 69....and before i sell it i want to know what i can do with the money...i am defiantely gonna buy rims and tires.....for the back i would like to go with 295...275..the wider the better..but i do not want to have the rubber outside the fender...i would like to keep the tire underneath the well...what is the widest i can go....its a leaf truck if that matters....gimmie some specs on what i should get....tire width, heighth, back spacing..thanks all..(pics never hurt)

i put 295/50/15's on 10 inch rims on my old fleetside with no prob.

I have 285-60-15s on 8" ralleys on my 67 coil fleetside...still have plenty of room

Imo, with a 15 in 8-10 in ralley, a 255,265, 70 or 275,285 60 looks great, I perfer the 255,265 70's they fill the wells up good and ride is great. The new 16,17,18,and up don't have a clue don't want to cash my 401K to buy a set LOL!!!!!!!! If you can afford em' that's cool!!!!!!

I am runnin a 285 70 15 on mine with coils. I love the way they look. Pretty wide and pretty tall they kinda give it that old hot rod look. My wheels are torque thrust II's 15x8's on the back. Hope fully i will be able to egt some pics up hee soon.

heres mine, perfect in the back, a litle wide in the front. keep in mind the 2wds are wider in the front then the back. heres a pic, 15x10s with 295/50s
