Anyone have or getting a custom tank built?

I gave the demensions to a friend for a custom built fuel tank to go under the bed. He is looking for salvage aluminuim plate to get broke and welded. I wanted stainless but you don't find that very much in salvage plate and I could not afford the price tag.

The poly tank just did not look like I wanted and we had trouble with factory Dodges at work springing leaks or burning a hole in them.

I also wanted to put the pump in the tank so that is a bonus of having it made custom.

My question is have any of you done this and how did it work out-sugestions please

I used stainless and had it powder coated......worked out pretty good, although it was VERY hard to drill hole in for the mounting bolts........hehe

I have never had one built and wanted to see what the results and problems where from some people that have started from scratch.

One thing I plan to do is put my pump in the tank. My engine is a tune port LT1 and I need the return line. Having said that what venting if any do i need to plan? can I add a vent in the filler tube like allot of non vented tanks?

I want to have the inlet behind the left rear tail light like a 56 chevy car, i have seen the cool side marker trick but the markers will be shaved and I want access to the tank from the out side but don't want it to show, but that is something I will have to work for my self:
