Repro Tailgate

I have a 63 fleetside. I also have an original tailgate that has some dings, but nothing major. I was thinking of just getting a repro tailgate and not working on the original one. How good is the quality and fit of aftermarket fleetside tailgates? Is it worth it to buy a repro, or is the original better?

I would stick with original if its in decent shape. New stuff is ok.

Re: Repro Tailgate

It has no rust at all...it just has small dings and needs to be sandblasted.....I'm really tired of blasting. I dont mind spending the money to save some work and time.....just want it to fit right if I spend the money.

Re: Repro Tailgate

You'll regret an aftermarket. If you do end up getting one, reweld the spot welds so they actually stick. Mine are separating already, and I don't abuse the truck.

If I could have kept original, I would have.
