im doing some some thinking on what head unit, componant, tweeters, subs, and amps to use. where can i find some kick panels? I would like to see some pics to get a good idea.

Well I am using an ALpine head unit No internal amp. Sony amps( not the Xplodes) poineer 6.5's (just because I had them laying around) kicker 12" subs.

Also if your more detailed about what you want it's easier to give advice, such as where you want to mount the deck, what features what type of music you listen, and your budget.

Thats a nice head unit. Are you sure it will clear the dash pad? Whats the brand.? You've talked me into a LCD/DVD, I just want to get one with a USB connection as well and after thinking about it and looking at them at best buy i want it, as long as it tucks away when not in use. Did you find anyone who makes the kick panels?> Im going with 2 -10" subs and they have the boxes for trucks on ebay and a few are the right size to replace the tank. I think 1000 watts is plenty and a lot of the sound deadening mat.

my family owns a car audio store which i have worked at since birth, and a few years back i did a k5 blazer. i used q logic universal fit kick panels. they hold a 6 and a tweet and fit to any flat panel. they are made of molded abs plastic. sorry no actual pic but here is a pic from the web site. www.qlogic.ws we havent sold q logic stuff for quite a while, we now build our own kicks out of fiberglass. when we sold them a pair of panels would retail for 150 to 200 bucks.

I don't know if it will clear the pad, I don't think it will. It's a Performance Teknique ICBM-9500T. Some cheap off-shore stuff, but it was $125, so I'm not going to *****. I think retail is over $800, gotta love bad ebay listings.

I might split the dash pad so it covers the gauge cluster and glove box only, or use one of the 89ish deck stand-offs (the kit for that poorly designed dash area GM did for a while) , or I might mount it bellow the heater controls. It will be here this week and I will spend some time fitting.

Also, the kick panels in the FAQ are very easy to make. Rather than use fiberglass as a back, I use masonite because it's flat and easy to work with. Everything else isthe same when I do it though.

Head unit I think is JVC, I have an Resonant Engineering RE8 8" sub to go in a small box under the seat to be powered by an Alpine Mono amp and a big ass Mac Attack 4075 amp to run the current JBL GTO 6x9's in the doors, these will eventually be replaced with some decent components, probably in some kind of door build.

I bought and used the kick panel set up from Classic Industries. They have pioneer 140 watt speakers, look great and fit like a glove. They look great in my 71'.

I want to fabricate two kick panels to hold a 6X9 and a tweet, two 6 1/2's in the doors, and two more kick panels to go in the top back corners of the cab. i would like to run two 10" Massive subs under the seat but its going to be hard to make a fiberglass box with the correct volume.

LITEMUP- i listen to rock,rap,hip-hop so im going to be gitting a ported sub box for sure. im looking to spend about 1K in audio Equipment.

BAGGED GMC thats alot of bass, what kind of component's do you have to keep up with thoes audiobahn's?

Right now I only have some OLD Alpine 6X9's in the doors. I'll either A) Fiberglass some tweets into the console I'm building or B) Build the console and fiberglass some kickpanels to hold a 6in midbass and a tweet.

You can get great bass response and use very little space with the new Pioneer 12" subs. They are shallow mount so they would fit under the seat and a sealed box would require less space.

I listen to some heavy bass and am much hapier with sealed enclosures.

Specs say .5 to 1.0 sealed per, not too bad for a 12".

When I get to that phase of my project (which is a ways down the road) I will mount my stereo under the dash...I think its the cleanest look
