Question Gas Gauge Quit Working.

The under the bed tank I installed was working great for me until just yesterday morning. Had nearly a 1/4 to 1/3 tank registering and it had been working fine. After I filled the tank it continued to work and registered "full" for the rest of the day. Next morning just after starting the truck the needle started to move to the left or empty and continued until it shows empty. Hasn't registered since. Checked my ground wire and connections to the gauge and all seems as it was when first was working. Not sure what is the problem. Any ideas from anyone? Did my sending unit pass on to it's greater reward?

Quick test:
At the gas tank, disconnect the wire going into the sending unit. Note the gas gauge position (should be past full) then ground the wire, the gauge should then drop to just below Empty. If this doesnt happen you have a problem in the wire/gauge. If the gauge shows empty all the time, more than likely you have a grounded signal wire going to the gauge. If the gauge shows past full, you have an open(cut wire) somewhere or the gauge has gone out.

Most importantly, double/triple check your tank ground!!!!

the past 3 times i have put a new float in, when popping it into place the brass would fracture and cause the float to fill up and sink to empty and stay at empty all the time. finally i just covered the whole thing in JB Weld and havent had a problem since
