I am wondering if any of you guys have used the Goodmark fleetside bedsides on your trucks and what did you think of them, be honest. I have a 72 that I am thinking about using some on, mine are pretty dead.

I haven't used em' but seen several with em'. If yours are shot and had the cash buy em'. Some say repos are not as good as the OEM but when you can't find old stuff repo parts look pretty good.

I have bought both sides for my truck. Those bedsides seem to be like any of that repo sheetmetal stuff, it still needs to be modified before installation, but its typically less work that repairing the 30+ year old stuff. The worst area I found on the two I have is the taillight area on the passenger side bedside. The 3/8" strip on the left of the tail lense [next to the tail gate], is super rough. I resorted to grinding down the high spots and and currently filling over it. Probably won't matter if I was running the rear trim though... I may find more problem areas when I got to final mount them but its not like they have to line up with another panel, like a front fender and door for example.

what about LMCtuck.com? i was looking through their online catalog and the 67 SWB sides are $539.?? each! to me (a newbe to classic truck restoration) that is a little too expensive, but if the sheet metal is the same gauge as stock and the quality is good i would pay it.

I bought both sides and front from Wes at classic.I am very happy with them.But I'm not sure who manufactured them.

Heck Number98, I have a short fleet that almost rust free, there are some small places in it. I'd be willing to sell.off a 70 GMC. If that strikes your fancy PM. me. I also have a passenger beside that is in good shape.

Thanks for the information Bigsky, I have been debating on them but as a rule I am trying not to use anything but original sheetmetal on my 71.

I used a passenger side one on a 67 truck I built. It was a thing of beauty, the only problem I had was the lip where it bolts to the floor was about an 1/8" to long in the front and had to trim it off so it wouldnt interfere with the bed end panel. Other than that it bolted right up without any problems. Hope this helps. Oh and that is about what they run expensive yes, no bondo- priceless.

Aaron and Bigsky, what about the gauge and quality of the steel? Did they feel like the same weight as originals and how about the thickness? I guess I am asking if they seem as sturdy as the originals?

As far as I can remeber seemed same gauge, they flexed about the same as original, little if any flex. Id use them again, especially if they had long bed sides. The primer is even nice on them, would be good for scuff and shoot. The one I installed required more work because I had to plug the marker light hole, it went on a 67. And the owner requested I weld up the post hole pockets. If it wasnt for that stuff it would have been scuff and shoot.

I only wish they offered a long version. I got a solid one off Brad, but I have to weld in a marker hole (his was a '67).
