Which Flowmaster mufflers you runnin'?

What size/configuration flowmasters are you using with full length headers?. I want to see flowmaster pics with full length headers if you got em'. Mine hang down TOO FAR under the truck and look crappy . Mine are 2.25" with center in and offset out. Post specific FLOWMASTER details and pics please.

Re: Which Flowmaster mufflers you runnin'?

I am running the 3 chamber 50 series delta flows. I did have the original 40's and they are way loud. I figured I'd spare my neighbors and went with the slightly quieter ones.

If you want to hear them click this link.

Re: Which Flowmaster mufflers you runnin'?

Forgot to mention that I'm running Hedman Elite mid length 1 5/8" primary headers.

I did have long tube 1 5/8" before. I think at some point I'm going to 1 3/4" equal length long tube headers.

Re: Which Flowmaster mufflers you runnin'?

I am usingflow tech headers with 2 1/2 inch pipe and 2 chamber Flowmasters with 3 1/2 stainless tips. My exhaust is below the frame from the headers to the trailing arm crossmember, then goes up to the mufflers.

2 1 chamber 3" mufflers.

Less interior drone than the 2-3 chambers, sounds like a 5.0 mustang, but only on a chevy.

I think Flowmasters have their own cool, unique sound, but for some reason I consider it cheating. Don't ask why. I just believe in cherry bombs for an old street rod pickup. Call me old-fashioned, all the import guys do.

Re: Which Flowmaster mufflers you runnin'?

i'm a big fan of the super 40's.

i had a 3" in dual 2.5" out on my 89 gmc with a 350 sounded amazing.

i also have 2 2.5" on my 2001 mustang gt which is quiet but the tone is perfect

Sounds like your exhaust sytem was not installed very well, or without attention to detail. It should be possible to have everything mounted up high and tight, even with Flows if that is what you like. On both of my trucks the exhaust is barely visible from the side until it exits out the back.

Sorry no pictures.

Re: Which Flowmaster mufflers you runnin'?

2 1/2 w/ super 40's (i think, bought them used) i have holes in my crossmember so everything is up tight and can not be seen from the side. the guy before me cut notches out of the crossmembers for the prev. exhaust so my exhaust guy used that to his advantage. my flows are sitting sideways beside the driveshaft I O I <--- like that and it works out perfect. i wouldnt mind a bit more sound but it sounds nice at idle w/ NO DRONE/RESONANCE at cruiseing speeds.

454 with Hooker Competition headers and dual 3'' Flowmaster 40 series with turndowns just ahead of the axle. Loud enough to set off car alarms, scare small children and animals, and ehco like hell in the cab.

Hooker comps,2 1/2" pipe/H pipe, 50's flows set approx 1 ft behind the cab, with rear exit tail pipes(also 2 1/2"). It is fairly quiet, with little interior noise......till you stand on the loud peddle She sounds off good then L

That is the reason I did not go with long tube headers. I didn't want to see any exhaust hanging down.

I had my exhast run inside the frame rails and underneath the drive shaft loop and over the trailing arms. I really wanted to either buy the loop with the holes cut in it for exhaust or make my own.....However, the place that did the work, Muffin Muffler in Austin Texas, did a FANTASTIC job and you can't see the pipes. The put them as far up as possible.

Re: Which Flowmaster mufflers you runnin'?

Does anybody here have "full length" headers with a clean tucked up exhaust???. It looks like only ram horns, shorties and mid lengths will give the hidden look . Bryanw1968 I want that look, but want to keep my full length headers!

Man I don't think it's possible. I had a set of flow techs full length hedders and they hung down. These hedman elites are really more of a 3/4 length than shorty. I gained a little torque with them and "maybe" lost a tiny bit on the top end. Like above 5500RPM which I'm rarely at anyway.....

Good luck. B.T.W. I'd love to hear if anyone knows of a full length that doesn't had down.

Re: Which Flowmaster mufflers you runnin'?

I have an old set of 3 chamber Flow Masters on mine that I've had for probably 10+ years.

Haven't they changed somewhat with the "series" identifiers and "Delta" etc....

Do the newer muffs sound different then the older 3 chambers?

Hooker comps.....they do hang below the frame, but only by about 2 ". All my exhaust runs under the crossmembers, but is tucked up tight. I fabbed the trans crossmember & the crossmember for the carrier bearing, to fit things tight. Sorry, I dont have pics, but.....at eye level on a rack, you see 1/2 the mufler & just a little pipe below the rails. This wont work for the guys that are "layin body", but works very well on a lowered truck, keeps the long headers.....& drags NOTHIN on the pavement L
