BB motor mounts at Autozone for 7.99???

ok I have driven this into the ground but while I was at Autozone getting some wires, plugs, etc. I asked if they had a motor mount for a 71 C10 with a 402. They had this part #2283. Could it be true? Does the expensive hard to get mount exist at our nearest autozone? Is autozone really having those India kids make these for our beautiful trucks.? They say these will fit 67-71!!!! You guys tell me.
Thanks,
Bob

I noticed that now that I am looking at some pics on threads of the towers I need. Wow autozone sold me the wrong part. What a surprise.

Funniest thing: I also went to Autozone to see if, by chance or twisted fate, they carried BB mounts for my 72 C10. The funny part is that they gave me the mounts YOU need (with the horizontal thru bolt) and they gave you the one I need (direct center thru bolt) . They DO have the correct ones. It's just a matter of searching their system for the right application, which may require searching different years models of other vehicles. I have a 1973 454 BB, but used the same SB motor mounts that I removed from the later model 350 (1995) that was in my truck. The one thing that I had to do is change the SB motor mount brackets (also called towers, I think???) over to the BB brackets. The SB brackets would've worked had I not used headers. The BB brackets have the recessed area to accommodate headers. Also the center hole on the BB brackets are way bigger than the holes in the SB brackets, so be sure go and grab some larger (at least 1.75-2in wide) sturdy Grade 8 washer/backing plate to hold bolts in place. This is if you already have the mounts as pictured above to use with BB brackets.

Hope this helps. Update us on your prgress.

Jesse

Re: BB motor mounts at Autozone for 7.99???

I worked at Autozone right around the time I bought my truck....I was makin a price list for the BBC in my 70SWB.

If I remember right there was something like 3 pages of different motor mounts. With 8-10 different mounts on each page. With ****ty descriptions below each of them. According to that page it mattered if you had AC, 4x4, 396/454, what month it was made and where....it was crazy.

The kid behind the counter probably hated his job like I did and just gave you the only one they had in stock.

Depending on which store you go to, they might have a mount book with pics and better desriptions. And if your really lucky they might even let you go behind the counter and go through boxes if you got a good idea of what you need.
