Eight Lug to Six Lug
I have a buddy with a 1968 C20 father/son project. They want to change the bolt pattern from an eight lug to a six lug so they can mount some late-model rims and tires that they already have. What would be the easiest/cheapest way to do this?
I've done a search and found a ton of six-lug to five-lug stuff (obviously) but nothing for eight lugs to six.

It would be basicaly the same as the 6 to 5 swap. Find a 6 lug rear end & I believe the 1/2 ton & the 3/4 ton a-frames are the same just have to change the ball joints to run the 6 lug stuff.

Upper A-arm will be fine lower one will need to be replaced. The lower one has a larger diameter hole for the ball joint on the 3/4 ton. You need to get one off of a 67-70 1/2 ton. Oh and be forewarned, the newer, 99-up six lug wheels have the same bolt pattern but the center hole is a smaller diameter than the original 67-70 wheels. The center hole on the new wheels will need to be machined to the larger diameter. Or the rear axle and front hub will need to be machined down to the newer wheel center diameter. Hope this helps.

The newer stock wheels, if that is what they have, also have about 5 inch back space, they will sit inside a long way, assuming you get the hub size problem fixed.
