electric fan sending unit
i am installing a pair of electric fans on my 68, 305-v-8, performer rpm intake. i dont know what size thermostat to use or what to do about sending unit for fans. what size, or rating? location to install? please help. i want the fans to work only when needed not full time. this is a pair of fans out of a late model gm, 97 iroc? ls1? not sure. since i dont know the specs i think i should set them up on seperate 30 amp relays? thanks, pkj

Re: electric fan sending unit
Most of the fan companies provide them. Mr Gasket has a kit, so does Flex-a-Lite. Both of these can be bought ~90 minutes up the road from you at the Summit superstore (Exit 216 on I-75, on the east side of the Interstate).
They are supposed to be really reliable. They're sold in a lot of the fan kits out there. In fact, you can probably find a full fan wiring kit (including relays) - hit Summit's site and poke around www.summitracing.com or try going to the flex-a-lite or Mr Gasket sites if you can't find something @ Summit. Word of advice: Call ahead of time w/Summit before you drive there - make sure the part is in stock. I've done two trips now only to find my part is not there
