Sweeeet. Nice driving too. The Blazers are such a great 4 wheel drive vehicle... Short, agile, good weight distribution over the rear wheels with the added weight of the fiberglass top...

The video of you and your truck out playing in the snow brings back a lot of memories. I built up a 1981 Jimmy in what seems like another life. Here is a picture of my truck taken in 1990. I finished off a few things after the picture was taken (rear step bumper, running boards...). It looked good but was a ton to take it out and drive the bag off of it. I put a built-up 350-350 combo into it and swapped in 4:10 running gear with a factory truck locker in the back. My truck also had the NP208 transfer case with the 2.8:1 reduction which made 4-low an absolute scream (literally... 5500 rpm at about 22mph).

Thanks again for the video and bringing back some memories of fun times.

Thanks for the compliments, that is the hardest I've run it since the installation. I was a little worried I wasn't going to make it through that spot myself, seems like I need more ground (or snow) clearance.

We were up above Carson WA at the foothills to the Cascades, the elevation is between 2500-3000. We just recently had a cold spell that dumped a bunch of snow so that's what theres so much there.

That is a sweet video. About how much horsepower are you making? I also noticed in your pictures that it looks like you have hydroboost, what is that off of?

When I get a chance to get it cleaned up I'll take some pics under the hood. There are a couple of them mixed in on the site where the vid is.

I think that my horsepower at the crank is somewhere between 550 and 600 but that's just a guess from what I've seen similiar motors putting out. My tuning software has calculated the torque as high as 612 for what ever thats worth but should be ball park.

I do have hydroboost, I just bought a complete kit from hydroboost.com or something like that, I can look them up if you're interested. I already had the correct power steering pump since the new trucks come with it. They also sent me the lines to connect the new PS pump to my old steering box which was something else that I had to do so all in all the cost for pretty reasonable for what I needed. I had also read stories about people being in the boost and needing brakes and not having any (boost=no vacuum) thats the main reason I got it.

If you wouldn't mind PM me the contact info on the hydroboost set up. I have a 3/4 ton master cylinder and 4wdb, I think the hydroboost is the way to go. I would like to see some pics of you engine and the wheels from the side. I am thinking of going to a 17" or 18" Weld Cheyenne, But I am not sure it will look right

Excellent setup. I want one bad!! I looked thru your other pics and videos and you guys all had fun. Looks like most of you got crossed up and headed over the edge at least once!! I sure hope that tow strap on Toyota wasn't hooked to you and going forward!!

Now that video is AWESOME. Good job on that Billjo.

The research, craftsmanship and ECM calibrations that go into retrofitting a Gen III small block (with a blower no less) into an old K5 with a NV4500 is most appreciate by those that are familiar with the details of late model powertrain transplants. Not exactly the most economical swap in the world either. Good work!

I could bore you with my pathetic video from our snow run to the mountains in CO last year but my 454HO K10 would look like a huge slug next to your build LQ4.

Let me set the record straight, the only rig that didn't need to be towed out was the Blazer, I had to pull both the Toyota and the F250.

For those that asked I live in Vancouver WA, seems like there are quite alot of you from the Spokane area.

One of the many nice things about being on this forum is that people can appreciate the time that it takes to do mods no matter how small or big they may be. Not only mods but the people that take the time to restore their trucks back to the way they were when they rolled of the assembly line.

I'm very happy with the way my conversion went. I didn't have any idea that I would be so pleased, I have power like I never thought I would. And to top it off on my last tank of gas I got 14.6 mpg.

Your right about the support...heck if I could get my wife to get at least a little excited about the 454 I put in my K5 that would be great...She said something like "it sounds the same" WHAT!!!! a 350 does not sound like a stump pulling RAT! hahahhahaa
