well i got all the bolts out on the driver side and there are two welds that I ground down flush to the other sheet metal ( i dont want to grind into other sheet metal). My question is how do i get the rest of the welds off? I was able to use a air powered jack hammer (hand held, very small) to brake the welds on the horizontal one but i cant get the vertical one to brake. HELP!!!

Last month I disassembled a longbed and I ran into something like this. Depending on what you want to save, try a cutting wheel if you have the room. Are you talking about the rear stake pockets? You should be able to get away with a little chopping, maybe with a cold chisel and BFH. I ended up prying the stake from the floor with a big prybar, not my first choice but it was getting late.

Are they spot welds? You may need a spot weld cutter. I assume your working on a fleetside, 'cuz there's only one weld per side on a stepside.

Cut off wheel for the weld. Angle it to get in there real good.

However, Make sure that you did not miss some bolts though. There are two hidden within the rear most bed "crossmember" (for lack of a better word) Standing from the back if you put your hand within the crossmemebr (bed support?) there are two more bolts. At first I did not notice them so just make sure you got them.

i seen thoes two you are talking about and ive yet to get them all the way off(they are going to snap before they thread off and i dont need stitches)

the welds are about two inches long so im going to have to use a cut off wheel. Thanks for all your help!

AHAAAH!!! i got the driver side bedside off today! i used a 1/8" drill bit and drilled holes with about 1/16" between holes and used a numatic chisle. now I need to find out where the spot welds are at so i can seperate the inner and outer finders from eachother so i can start taking the dends out.
