Pics of the new truck!
What's up guys... I'm new to the forum and I live in Nashville, TN. I just purchased my first truck and it's a 69 c10 fleetside. I just wanted to post some pics because I'm sure I will be asking for advice in no time.
As you can see, the bed is in rough shape, so that will probably be the first thing I will be addressing. If anybody has some ideas on fixing the rust (i.e. what needs to be replaced and what can be restored) I would appreciate it. The truck has a brand new engine (less than 3k miles on it) and 99k original miles. Right now, I'm using it as a daily driver because my other car gets the garage. Anyway, I plan to really fix up the truck over time but most of the work will be done during summers when I can put it in the garage. Anyway, let me know what you guys think! -Jonas |

Re: Pics of the new truck!
from east TN. That a good looking truck. I think I would start with a rust convertor and some cheap paint to try and stop the rust in the bed before it starts eating through the sides. you could always take it to lebanon dont know if I spelled that right but thier is a guy that does soda blasting thier and have him blast the inside of that bad and then you could shoot some cheap paint on it just to stop it from rusting any more then it is. plus this will let you see how bad the bed rilly is you can buy patch pannels for the bed floor and weld them in to fix it. but I would be woried more about stopping the rust on the inside bed sides ware the floor meats the sides more then any thing.

Re: Pics of the new truck!
Really sweet looking truck! At least the rust is visible in the bed, instead of hiding somewhere waiting to bite you in the butt later
Great choice to start with. Doesn't seem that it needs anything but bed rust work. Good luck and let us know if you need anything. Sorry I don't have much advice on fixing the rust, though Jesse

Re: Pics of the new truck!
Thanks guys for all of the compliments! Thanks for all of the advice earl. So can I pick up rust convertor at an auto parts store or should I go to a paint store? How much do you think soda blasting would be? My plan right now, just as you said, is to just stop the rust and make to the spring without it getting much worse. My biggest concern is that the rust will spread up the sides of the bed so I really want to contain it on the floor of the bed as much as possible. Then in the spring, do some real work and restore the bed. I don’t really know a whole lot about working on cars, but I am definitely willing to learn. My plan is to do as much of the work myself because I want to learn as much as possible. So hopefully no one gets annoyed with all my questions!

Re: Pics of the new truck!
Nice truck. Sandblast the inside of the bed, patch the rust, and then get some good spray on bedliner. Just make sure its herculiner or something and not that wal-mart crap. Have fun and welcome to the board.

Welcome to the board. I like the looks of your truck. Being from the Nashville TN. area that truck may very well have a colorful history behind it. It may have carried some country star and his equipment to a local bar for a show or even picked up a hitchhiker back in the day heading out to make a fortune under the neon lights. Have fun and enjoy the board

Re: Pics of the new truck!
Nice rig and welcome. These punks can give some okay advice. I don't trust them though. All seem a little shifty, trying to get you to give your truck to them. Don't fall for it, give it to me.
