Warn 3/4 Ton Hub Problems
The 6 main mounting bolts keep coming loose. The passenger side hub has recently become very hard to turn-in by hand and last time out all 6 bolts on the passenger side hub BROKE OFF! What the I drilled them all out and replaced them with grade 8 bolts and loctite. Any input?

Re: Warn 3/4 Ton Hub Problems
So I take it your talking about the external type hub?
If so I would swap in Warn internal Hubs. I belive it is just a matter of pull all the external hubs pieces out and installing the Warns...but I am going off memory so I could be mistaken

Re: Warn 3/4 Ton Hub Problems
They are suppose to have locking tabs on the mounting bolts. Triangled metal tabs that have a hole in the center, once you tighten the bolt bend a corner over.

Re: Warn 3/4 Ton Hub Problems
This is the style hub I have. Warn #9072. According to the Warn catalog this is the only style that will work on my rig and they dont come with any lock tabs and no mention of such in the instructions.

Ya that is the external type...for some reason my brain tells me you can swap in the internal type but I could totaly be mistaken. Worse case to get the internal type to work you would need donor parts from the spindal out...
I have no clue why your bolts are acting that way...

Re: Warn 3/4 Ton Hub Problems
I've never had any problems with my old external Warn Lock-o-Matics bolts getting loose. I always torque the 3/8" grade 8 bolts to 35 foot pounds.
When using Lock Tite, always make sure the bolts and threads are perfectly clean otherwise you're wasting your time. |

Re: Warn 3/4 Ton Hub Problems
Thats' the same type I have. My camera is out on loan so I can't show you what they look like. Try a local 4x4 shop and ask them if they have some mounting locking tabs lying around. They should be pretty cheap.
