How do I get this off??

I need to get the piece on the end of the pitman arm off. You can see where the guy I bought it from just torched it off. Is that piece pressed on? I tried everything to get it off Sunday and it wouldn't budge.

Re: How do I get this off??

I think the small Pitman arm pullers will pull them off. Like $15 at your local parts store.

Re: How do I get this off??

I'll have to stop by autozone and pick one up then. Thanks guys! Any tips for replacing my steering box with this one? I wire wheeled it all down to bare metal Sunday and I'm going to paint it this weekend, then install. I have all new hoses as well. Figure since my front clip is off I might as well do it now. Anything I should know before I get started?

Lay the part you want to remove across a heavy duty vice and hit the opposite side with a heavy hammer---you need to knock the taper loose (obviosly)

Or hold a 8 pound slege tight against one side and hit the opposite side with a 4 pound hammer. It's never failed for me.
