Now that's cool...but what about those engines, I don't know squat about them? I believe the operative phrase is "MAY NEED A REBUILD"!!!!!!!!!

That has to be torque monster. Does anyone know anything about these or what GM put them in. What transmission would this be able to mate up to?

It is the 8.1 liter big block which superceded the 454, and has been used in trucks since 2000 or so. They are really 496 cid.

For $2000-$2500 you can get one from salvage yard. One that does not need a rebuild. Also you will need a new wiring harness (painless wiring,etc) , all the sensors. I would sat it's not worth the money if it's not complete or needs a rebuild...
