Buying these trucks is addicting !

It’s getting a little out of control. I have two swb frames not pictured , three more trucks at my shop, and a 70 swb that I picked up last night. I think I need to get help soon.

Re: Buying these trucks is addicting !

The addiction is getting so bad that 3 weeks ago I broke down and bought this new auto hauler. The sad thing is it cost more than 13 of the trucks did.

I blame all this on my dad, he drives around 1000 miles a week and is always looking for these trucks.

The next pic is the newest member of the herd, and the last one is one across the field that I have my eye on. A 72 custom deluxe BB.

Re: Buying these trucks is addicting !

its one thing to buy them and do somethign with them, even if its just parting them out, or finding them a new home so they dont meet the crusher, but if they all end up just sitting there like the yards where you found them, thats just sad. if its the 1st, its not really an addiction, more so a hobby, but if its the latter, its an addiction, and you should stop as soon as possible.

Hey, seems healthy to me. It's the only 'legal' addiction I can think of that can make you money should you decide to part with some of them.

Re: Buying these trucks is addicting !

yep i agree i have one of every year but a 67, and i found one of those so probably after the first of the year it will be added to my collection, anytime i find one cheap enough i pick it up whether i need it or not maybe i'll start a 67-72 salvage yard, not sure how well it would go here in missouri though

I feel your pain. I'm addicted and I live in an apartment. My trucks just have to be parked on the street since the landlords won't allow them on the property. Really sucks too, cause they get vandalized at least once a week.

Re: Buying these trucks is addicting !

I have seen this plague spread and it is freightening. That is why I started the:
"Classic Truck Foundation"
1971 Cheyenne Drive
Fleetside, Virginia
11968

I have developed the twelve step program on how to say "NO" to all things you crave in life.

1. NO, I won't be in to work today because I just got my truck back from the paint shop and I have to get it back together.

2. NO, I have a microwave in the garage honey, I will fix me something to eat out here while I put the chrome back on my truck.

3. NO, I can't go to your parents house today because my new front end kit just arrived and I need to figure out how to install it.

4. NO, You take the kids to practice. I have to pick up my new car trailer so I can get that parts truck home today.

5. NO, Tell your family that I'm sorry for their loss, but I really need to get another coat of varnish on the bed wood.

6. NO, I put a TV in the garage, I can watch "Gearheadz" out here while I put the interior in my truck.

7. NO, You go ahead and sing happy birthday and let me know when you cut the cake so I can clean off a spot on my work bench and please bring me a corner piece with lots of icing.

8. NO, You can get the neighbor to go with you to lamaz class today, I'm installing the headers on my engine.

9. NO, I have to wire my truck today, you go ahead and take the kids to the circus and could you bring me back some peanuts please.

10. NO, I'm not in the mood tonite sweetheart, I have to get this new 4-wheel disk brake setup installed.

11. NO, I'm not obsessed with this truck, I really do love it, I mean you.

12. NO, I signed a power of attorney to my brother. He will go with you to sign the divorace papers while I try to get this baby fired up.

This is just part of the program. When you are done with these classes, you will feel much better about yourself and have the willpower to say "NO", I am working on my truck today and that is the end of it. So if you are interested in this program you can email the Classic Truck Foundation at:

Oh i plan on doing something with them. I just put the very 1st one there about 6 weeks ago. I will sell a few of them as trucks and part the rest. I am just not really looking forward to (too busy) the feeding frenzy that i know will come with parting them out. I know it will be fun to sell of the parts, but it seems like it could be a full time job which I already have with the RR.

Re: Buying these trucks is addicting !

I can feel everyone's pain. I have two right now and accidentally found my next one. Just sitting there acting like it wasn't doing anything. My yellow 67, and red 68 need another friend. This is by far the best deal. $1,500 for a straight body big window short wheel base fleet 68 like my red one.
