Horn problems
I am at my wits end trying to get the horns to work in my truck. First they worked all the time, it was stuck on when I first got it. No problem, I just unplugged them and drove off.
Now I have replaced the relay and bypassed the Grant GT wheel by wiring directly to the relay from a horn button to the relay. I tried one wire to the ground and one to each of the three wires coming out of the relay box but none work. I need someone who knows exactly what and where to wire to get my horn working again....can anyone help?

Re: Horn problems
the horn wire in your steering column is a HOT wire when the hornbutton is pushed it grounds that wire causing the horn relay to activate the horns//the black wire at the disconnect for the column needs to be hooked up to a momentary switch that has the other terminal grounded// or the way you're trying it it would be the blackwire from the relay going thru the switch to ground

Re: Horn problems
I think the wire going to the button is an "isolated ground".
The relay is wired hot and the grn wire goes to the horn. |

Re: Horn problems
According to the wiring diagram, as Richard said, the green #12 wire goes to the horn, the red is 12V to the relay coil, and the black wire goes to the column. Pressing the horn button grounds the black, engages the relay, and sounds the horn.
The red 12V wire powers both the horn, and horn relay. Connect a wire to the connector with the black wire, connect the other end to the switch, and ground the other switch terminal. Now pressing the new horn button should make the relay click, and sound the horn. Verify that the red wire has 12V. |

Re: Horn problems
There is a small black wire going to the relay, I'm guessing it goes to the column and that this is the target wire to connect to.
I realize now that the splicer I crimped on it may have been too big to cut the wire sheathing and that no contact was made when I tried it yesterday. I'll test the red wire then try it again...thanks, I appreciate the help.

Re: Horn problems FIXED!
Thanks to Smokey for the easy button answer. I wireed the battery to one side of the horn button and the other directly to the horns...works perfectly!
