The project that just keeps growing, ha.
My current project began as cleaning the radiator and installing a 700R4...then it turned into headgaskets...which turned into minor valvework....
At least, that's what we thought. I took the cylinder heads in to get cleaned up...it turns out, most of the valves are badly recessed, so it needs new valves and seats and guides and...$450 of work on original 1970 truck heads. So...my dad bought me the Scoggin-Dickey Vortec kit. More horsepower...finally...more horsepower

HI..have you installed the votecs yet? let us know, how much seat of the pants difference they made. most of the time, I hear how great they are after the motor had gone through a total rebuild, just curious how much diff. in just a head change

No problem...mine will be close, but not quite, since it is going to be the seat-of-the-pants difference between the stock worn-out heads, stock intake, and a TH400 versus Vortec heads, an Edelbrock Performer intake, and a 700R4.
(People I've talked to say that it's good for a 30-40hp gain. I don't have a terribly big cam in it, and besides, you have to machine the Vortecs to take a bigger spring...)
