eng/trans swap
I'm going to swap the I6 and 3 speed that's in my truck for a 350/350 combo. If I put it in the sb holes in the frame can I use the same drive line?

Re: eng/trans swap
If by driveline you mean the driveshaft, then I am pretty sure you can. I have a '67 shortbed stepside that came with the I6 and I converted to the 350/350 and was able to use the stock one-piece drive shaft. It may not be the case for all trucks though so hopefully someone else will add to this.

Re: eng/trans swap
I will say yes, but I'm not 100% sure.
You will need a transmission cross member to support the turbo. If you know where that goes you could check the distance from the cross member to end of tranny VS the bellhousing mounts to end of tranny for the 3 speed. If the end of the tranny is the same for both then you are all set. Finding a new driveshaft should not be that hard if you need one. Just visit the boneyard.

Re: eng/trans swap
I think if you put the engine in the v-8 forward position you will need to have the driveshaft lengthed, espcially a shortail tranny. I think you definitely need a different yolk for the automatic. Obtaining a crossmember is easy, one can be bought from any vendors here on the board.

Re: eng/trans swap
I have the short 3 speed in there now. That's why I was thinking I might be able to reuse the driveline. I have access to a crossmember. I guess when I get the truck home Sat I'll start measuring.

Re: eng/trans swap
You will most likely find that you will need a T350 with the 9" long tail housing in order to use the stock 1 piece driveshaft. The short tail 350 requires a longer shaft.
