Turn signal broke

whats the name of the little plastic piece inside the steering column that the turn signal lever screws into, my turn signals still work, but don't turn them selves off anymore, and I'm tired of drive 10 miles before I realize they're still on.
edit: oh by the way, I have a tilt column if that matters.

Re: Turn signal broke

the part that the turn signal lever screws to is the switch it's self.
The cam is the round plastic piece that slides over the shaft and isn't bolted onto anything.

Re: Turn signal broke

It's called a trun signal switch cam, the part that slides over the shaft is called the cancel cam , parts are available to repair or just replace the entire switch. Try this link pages 48-49 for parts.

Re: Turn signal broke

If it's just a matter of turn signals not canceling, you most likley need a turn signal canceling spring. The hardest part is removing the wheel. You can get the springs at either the chevy dealer or local parts store. If you pull your wheel you will likley find a broken spring.that's what mine was.
