Some pics of my 68... (56K Warning!!)
Here are some pics of the old beater. I dug up the only three existing pics I have from when I first got the truck, drove it a couple years, engine blew, and I was young and had no idea how to fix it. So, I decided to tear the truck down and restore it and learn along the way. This was in 95. I graduated in 96. Around this time I discovered wimmens and alkyhol wuz funner n workin on trucks LOL. So, over ten years later, the truck is still in pieces. I'm looking for ways to fund not only my basic bills (lights, mortgage, food, daycare, etc) but to find a way to work on this truck and my 68 Charger R/T. Havent found the right money maker yet but I'm still lookin. Life sucks being poor lol. But, I really will restore this mofo one day, hopefully soon........
Pix from 93 when I got the truck..... And some pics I took about 9 hours ago lol.

Re: Some pics of my 68... (56K Warning!!)
drool is not good for a key board.
that is what mine looked like this summer. now its a bare chassis sitting in the drive with fenders and bedsides leaning against the house. and the cab is sitting on a dolly on the back patio soon to be wrapped in a tarp. mine is the same color, but I was told by the DMV it is supposed to be blue. Re: Some pics of my 68... (56K Warning!!)
I'd love to lower it, like 4-6 or so, but not really slammed, drop in a 400-500 hp 350 with an aftermarket SMPFI like an Accel, basically just redo the truck with a powder coated frame, some better suspension parts, some bucket seats, a frame mounted fuel tank, new bed wood and chrome strips, and not sure about the color yet. I had thought about a really vibrant purple with bright yellow accents but I like so many colors I may change my idea twenty times before I ever even get the money to start on the truck lol. I also wanted to run some 18's, like a concept Neeper Monsta, or another wheel I like is the basic Cragar Drag Star or the Street Star.

Re: Some pics of my 68... (56K Warning!!)
Oh and I think the original color was a cream color, that's what's under the peeling brown/gold paint.
the driver side rear corner of the cab was cut out and replaced (poorly I might add) from just above the gas filler neck to the bottom pinch weld, and about up to where the stepside bed meets the back of the cab. That'll have to be redone. I had already replaced a rusted out rocker on the passenger side.

Re: Some pics of my 68... (56K Warning!!)
It looks as though you have two Dodge p/u, one Acura, and a Honda that could/should be sacrificed for the betterment of the '68. Keep the Charger, they are getting too hard to find and too expensive to buy.
Any of your other vehicles, being sold, should give some decent money to start work on the stepper. Last edited by 72LoBurb; 12-17-2006 at 03:17 PM. |

Re: Some pics of my 68... (56K Warning!!)
Ohh I thought the same thing too as 1LoC10 had thought. On that idea, they both have too much sentimental value to let go of, at least for now. My truck was my very first vehicle that was really all mine. The Charger actually belonged to a friend of mine that passed away from Cancer in 2000. We drove up to Vernon Missouri to get that car, and we think that his enthusiasm for working on the car is what kept him going as long as he did. He was dying of cancer yet still had the drive to completely strip the car down to nothing but a unibody and four wheels. He even had started buying parts for it. Long story short, his wife and I became close after all this had happened and we ended up being married, and we now have a 2 y.o. daughter and another one on the way early next summer. So this car has ALOT of sentimental value for both the wife and I. The 96 is being considered for a sacrifice though. The 2000 Ram is not going anywhere. Long story behind it too, linked to the wife and Charger and late friend. The 1996Acura will likely be traded in this coming summer for another 4 door vehicle, like a toyota 4Runner or Honda Ridgeline for the wife. We got a second rugrat on the way, we are going to HAVE to get something bigger. The 1989 Honda will be my car, I have it TOTALLY torn down now doing a full repaint, new interior, and swapping in a fuel injected engine from a same year car that I'm going to rebuild. Reason being, I had almost nothing in it to start with, so with some work and a little money for materials and such, I will have a totally reworked car for less than a couple grand. Will make a great daily driver.

From the color of that thing, it looks like that must have been one of them rare hybrid half-breed "Pinto-pony Chevy pickups" ............
Sorry, couldn't resist. No offense. Great start to a fun project !!!! |
