Is there a decent looking STEP bumper for a Fleetside?
I have yet to see a bumper that looks like it was meant to be. The stock and sport bumpers just seem like an "ohh we forgot a rear bumper" type thing to me.
I seem to hate chrome bumpers too , I'm going to keep the current white front bumper/grill, which isn't helping me find a bumper that just looks like it should be.

Re: Is there a decent looking STEP bumper for a Fleetside?
I am not normally a big fan of them, but LMC had a pretty nice rear step bumper that fit in pretty tight. I know what you mean about the bumpers though. I like the looks of the sport bumper, but I don't like it's versatility.
BTW I know LMC lists them, so I assume other vendors do, but they still make the painted style rear sport bumper. A friend of mine has his original step which fits in rear tight and doesn't hang out much and he refuses to go with anything else, which I agree. Good luck with you searching and let us know what you find.

in a word...FEY
http://www.westinautomotive.com/page...-overview.html You have a choice of chrome, or power-coated black, or grey. I have seen the powercoating sand blasted off and replaced with off-white to match the painted front bumper. |

Re: Is there a decent looking STEP bumper for a Fleetside?
As for fey, they may have some nice bumpers, the only one I like is already posted above and the rubber just ruins it for me. I already had one of their diamond steps on the truck before I purchased the vehicle. I'll admit it didn't look half bad but the mounting style sucked and has no impact protection for the body from corner hits.
I'm trying to match this front style paintjob/curvature

I agree that fey has some good looking ones. They have one that looks like the 88-98 bumpers that is universal and you can get brackets to fit 67-72's. Here is a pic from one of the catalogs I have. Hope it helps.

Re: Is there a decent looking STEP bumper for a Fleetside?
Not good enough to trust myself to fab up anything good looking.
Only one from FEY I would actually think of getting would be this one: I don't like most bumpers because of their profile on the truck, the sport bumpers just seem to sit out from the body, most rounded ones are snug at the top and have a nice gap at the bottom, and the squared ones also have this nice 'we forgot to design a bumper that makes them look like theyre sagging on each side. Just trying to see if there is anything that just 'fits' better with the whole body style body curves.

The bumper I took off my truck was diamond plate, it looked pretty good, just not my style

Re: Is there a decent looking STEP bumper for a Fleetside?
That's the only 'squared' bumper I've ever thought looked good on the 67-72 body style. If I can't find a decent 'rounded' bumper I may just try to find myself one of those...

Re: Is there a decent looking STEP bumper for a Fleetside?
Thats very similar to the one on mine except its got two bits of steel across the middle so the top is level with the rest and a big ass old receiver hitch underneath.
