turn signal cut off
my turn signal auto cutoff only works when i make a left, the right side stays on, is this an adjustment or a cleaning or a replacement? Its a Factory tilt but not sure from which year.

Re: turn signal cut off
There are 2 little springs in there, one of them is broke. I just got a new pair from GM dealer for about $2.00, might as well replace both, used ones don't last too long for me. Seems like the right side always goes first. Should be able to just remove steering wheel and replace.

Re: turn signal cut off
Here is a pic. It is the small coiled piece on the white cancelling part.

Re: turn signal cut off
actually the canclling cam isn't shown there, the canclling cam is the part that covers that and has a tube that goes up through the steering wheel.

Re: turn signal cut off
Neither of mine work, I replaced the turn signal switch (which comes with springs) but never changed the cam itself. One more thing...

Re: turn signal cut off
tow rig, make sure you get the correct cam for your column, the non tilt ones are goofy. The bearings dire on it.
primer, your wheel isn't centered, is it? |

Re: turn signal cut off
Oh, if you go to the GM dealer, they used those same springs through 1987 IIRC. They don't look at you quite as funny when you ask for parts for a 87 like they usually do when I ask for 67-72 parts
I also went to NAPA and got a NF LF12 Loud Flasher, not really that loud, but you can actually hear it click. The last time my right spring broke, I did not notice it for a few days, and if you are driving down the road with the right turn signal on, that is just inviting someone to pull out in front of you and wreck your truck. Cheap insurance I think........

Re: turn signal cut off
wow, I have my flasher wrapped in tape to help shut it up. I find I tend to not use them if they annoy me.
Primer, yes, straighten your steering wheel. |
