removing wheel locks
I bought a truck and the PO had lost the wheel lock key. Whats the best way or removing them if the vehicle is not running or driveable?

Re: removing wheel locks
i have special sockets at work made by snap-on made especially for that purpose. sometimes you can use a cheap 12 point deep socket and drive it on with a bfh.

Re: removing wheel locks
If I remember, a 22mm 12pt socket will drive over the lock enough to remove it.

Re: removing wheel locks
Gotta love those BFH's
Other than that contact the local tire companies, they might have the snap on tools that you need that they just might let you borrow or remove for a small fee. I love the BFH anyways, If you strip those lugs on the way out, they are nothing to replace. Good Luck

Re: removing wheel locks
I have done this twice,,,
the first time I used a 3/4 deep socket and a bfh. trashed the socket the second time I used a 3/4 deep impact socket and a bfh. mushroomed the drive end of the socket but nothing that wasn't fixed with a dremmel.

Re: removing wheel locks
Sears has craftman socket set that is made just to remove the lugs works good. But a deep 12 pts socket should also help even better with air tools.

Re: removing wheel locks
I have taken my die grinder with a cut-off wheel and cut a slot in it. Then hit with a chisel
