Who the heck knows - usually those 4.0L Chryslers runn good. Must have been running it hard with no oil or something - one of those "friend of a friend" deals

I'm guessing the first pic had no antifreeze in it and froze up.

Here's some pics of a new Escalade with 5200 miles that my buddy got in at his shop last week. The head of the valve came of but the stem stayed in place you can see what else happened.

WTF - the crank break right off and dissappear???
Almost looks like the (missing) snout on the crank wasn't strong enough for the blower

WOW - that is a good one - too bad it's another Chevy though

Re: Like Seeing Broken Motor Pictures????? - Check it out.

this ones in great shape, on sale...

Here is a piston out of our LAST ford engine we put together. after this engine we just put in a 302 and sold the frigging thing after the fourth motor (3 351 windsors and a 302)

I just wish I could upload a video of our sister car (79 camaro) when it blew up coming out of turn 2 about 2 months back. the owner said he heard it knocking and coming off the top of 2 it went and man did it smoke. he kept the oil pan and the peices we could find off the straightaway and in 3 & 4. amazingly, the motor STILL RAN and he pulled it up onto the trailer and then it finally died. if I can get over there sometime soon i'll get a picture of whats left of his oil pan and the peices. I beleive he said it swallowed a valve spring and took out 7 and broke the rod and sent the rod through the oil pan, but I dont remember for sure. Not a way to lose a $5000 race engine, but it was one helluva show and we got a good laugh about it after we had the new engine for the next race!

Re: Like Seeing Broken Motor Pictures????? - Check it out.

This one's kind of neat. Hope you can see it OK. The oil pan is by the back tire and you can see the flywheel, crank, and one piston under neath the car. Check out where the driver is looking.......

Missed 3rd and pegged an autometer 11k RPM tach,
This was the first motor I ever spent the little extra to upgrade to titanium retainers. Its didnt break and kept the vavle from falling.

Re: Like Seeing Broken Motor Pictures????? - Check it out.

I have a pic(someplace) of a 360 FE that blew a rod, times 3. It wiped out 3 rods, made 2 pistons all but disappear, bent 2 rods into the shape of a pretzel, but a 1/4" dent into a crank journal, and snapped the can in 2 places. The pan looked like the motor threw up in it.

My first 460 I killed, it lost a valve keeper. It dropped the vavle, bend the head 45* and cracked the piston.

My Neighbor first overheated his 460, and cracked a head + the block. I set him up with a lower mileage used 460. He promplty flattened a cam in it. He put in another camshaft, and wondered why the motor rattled so bad. I went and checked it out, the shaft for the oil pump had fallen out of the motor, no oil at all. I fixed the pump, gave him a used cam that I wasnt going to use any more, he hasnt had a lick of problems with it.

My old roomate had a 350 that his father in laws son (putz) assembled. It had blown out the side of the piston, the motor barely ran. We took the piston out (no visible damage on the top) and pieces shot from the sides. THe motor had 3 broken rings and 2 damaged pistons. Con rod caps were mixed around, rod nuts looked like vice grips had been used to tighten them.

FOrum content, my roomates truck was a 67 LWB C10

Seen a 350 that started rattling hella bad on the way home. It made it home, the owner was showing us the motor, "hey, take a listen to this." He started the motor, I watched as a hole was punched thru the side of the pan when the rod let loose at idle

Yeah my LT4 loves revving fast and high.

After ditching those weak Crane gold rockers and upgrading to the SS crowers. My car will stand at 9k all day. Only problem is the **** distributors fall apart around around 5k
