The biggest issue I see is that there won't be any way to weld the mounting points in place. You could glass them in, but without some understructure, I'd think they'd break loose fairly quickly.

Hmmmm, seems like there would be a way to make it work, maybe a long
flat bracket that comes up to that point from the bottom mounting area?

I think if you cut a rectangular hole you could slide a 1/2" pc. of oak in there, then just epoxy and 4 flat head srcews in the corners till the epoxy sets up. Use a nut sert for threads, put a temp. bolt in the threads to hold onto in the mock up stage, and then just cover it up with fibreglass, just my .02

I've never had a factory blazer top but from what it looks like why couldn't you take a long peice of say 1" wide by 1/8 or so strap and run the length of the side of the hatch and attach with a half doxen screws into the fiberglass then have a spot to attach the mounting ball?

I think MNorby has the right Idea the longer the bar goes down the side the less likely to flex and break the hatch. I am almost postive someone posted a link on how to do this on a blazer. I thought it was someone who had put 02 suburban seats in etc.

I might give this a try.. The P.O already has cut some holes in the side of the gate to get to the original bracket that came loose. I think a long strap with the ball mounted 6 screws and a some high grade epoxy this could work... It will be some time before I get to it but If anyone else attempts this I would love to see some pics.
